I'm just debating now whether to go and buy one of these and cancel my order for £75 from QVC for 3 roasting joints (beef, pork and 1.5kg turkey crown) and sausage meat, chipolatas and bacon that all arrive frozen.
Has anyone had one of these before?
Will have a look and see if any are in first. Afterall £8 plus sausagemeat and streaky bacon and chipolatas won't come to anywhere near what I am about to pay out on thisfinal unsecured debt to repay currently £8333Proud to be Dealing With my DebtDFW Nerd 1154 Long Haul 1550 -

There were plenty of the crowns in the Cleveleys branch last night, I was really pleased to get one and have my turkey crown tucked away so early and at such a good price. Thank you for this post.0

Don't believe all the rubbish advice you see printed.
The basic point is keeping food at a low enough temperature so that the multiplication of harmful bacteria is considerably slowed.
You could perfectly well thaw a turkey crown, chop it in half and refreeze the half you didn't need - virtually zero risk to health as the bacteria will not have had any chance to multiply.
Also, provided you reheat any food to 100C for 5 mins or more you will kill off nearly all bacteria.
Why do you think it is perfectly OK to eat semi-rotted meat such as certain game birds? Answer - because you heat it before eating.
i've worked in the food industry for over 30 years & safe food practices recommend that thawed frozen meat shouldn't be refrozen unless cooked first.as the turkey thaws the temp rises and esp if its left out on a kitchen worktop this is a prime time/temp for bacteria to grow/thrive.ideally the turkey should be defrosted in a fridge or cool room & kept below 40 degrees . correct cooking will kill these bacteria if there are any .0 -
Right guys, there seems to be some confusion over this deal. I managed to get a turkey last night and this is the latest. The turkeys ARE on offer but very few Morrisons stores have been notified or received any promotional material. Therefore,it is highly unlikely that this will be advertised in the store. Furthermore the turkeys are still marked up at their original price (£12 whole turkey) and (£12.99 crown). However they WILL scan at £8 at the till.
You should be looking out for the turkeys wrapped in the WHITE plastic only!! You will find that the whole Turkeys are probably 4kg. These scan at £8 so the deal is actually better than that of 3kg advertised.
Hope that explains a little and helps a few people.0 -
Not very happy with my store this morning. I was told last night they were having a delivery during the night, with about 30 turkeys £8, and told to arrive at 8am to make sure i got one. Shot up there at 8am, and couldnt find them. Asked someone walking past who had just arrived into work if he could check out the back for me. He didnt even stop walking and said, if there not out we havent got any! I mentioned the delivery and he said well there not out so we havent got any! He didnt even stop walking while he was talking to me! I then went over to someone alse and they said they would check out back for me. She called through and it turned out the man that just came into work was the "frezzer man". She said could he check, he said no as they would of been out, and said id already spoken to him! I was then told by the lady that called him, to leave my name and number at CS so they could ring me when they get stock, only to be told by CS that they wouldnt call me.
I cant belive it! The man didnt check the shop floor, or the back for me, or ask someone on last night if they had a delivery. He didnt even stop to talk to me, he just kept walking. Then i was told to leave my details at CS only to be told i couldnt! Not very impressed :-(0 -
