Thanks guys! Have tackled the childrens rooms - its not a bribe if they do it before they get it - its an incentive!! So boys rooms now tidied and wiped over - cost - 2 lollies each from my stash! Bathroom & ensuite swiped over and (horrified face) now all windows open as I found some thankfully new mould from condensation! 5 Minute break and then I'm on to the hall and where the dogs sleep. My bed made and I can see the floor !!! Found an extra duvet I can use as a throw when its chilly - just need a suitable cover.

Bless - my youngest has just thrown away a lolly saying I don't like it - its too sugary! Will have to pass this onto the dentist on Tuesday :) Right back to it!

Well done so far :T What has OH done to help?

Of course they do Crafty and until those 2 experiences, one which mainly a friend had to go through but seeing that little girls upset of having to change schools etc and she didn't know why she had to leave her friends etc was really upsetting then of course one much closer to home I think I had the 'why can't I take photos' view. Now I've seen the other side of the coin in 2 ways. I've seen why people need to be a little less selfish and ensure they gain permissions etc. I would if it was an adult or a child, I always ask them. Fb is useful as you can remove tags. I'm careful about me because I was assaulted and would hate them to find out where I live or anything. Anyway I just get upset about the case with the images being used as it was me he told initially and I just remember feeling so sick, not a great memory from volunteering in school but as he'd been convicted before *I did not think they would be allowed to live with the family again but they were* the police were there within minutes. Right changing subject from me or I will get upset about it again but any more questions drop me a PM

Right so far, well it's -6, icy, hearing reports of boilers breaking every other FB page, need to get uniforms sorted before we go for DS2 and get that steak casserole cooking so we have a yummy tea ready. I shall go make a start with the casserole then empty/refill wm, td, dw

  • Good morning. Back from work, brrr it was cold this morning. We had ice on the inside of the back door, I've never seen that before here.

Im going to have a HHC downstairs (making lots of noise so DH wakes up and I can carry on upstairs). Having toad in the hole for lunch today, kids can make the batter and use up a packet of very old sausages from the freezer!!

Hope everyone is having a good weekend.

  • I'm off to Keswick in a pod in June.

In a pod like a pea in a pod in the field in the countryside in the fresh air listening to Wimbledon and climbing the hills - can't wait!

Where are you staying - we regularly camp at Keswick, and love it :T

I heard about that on the news yesterday, so thanks for the link - lots more info.

My first thoughts - possibly the head has had a bad experience of this, so feels the need to protect the children :(

lil me - thanks for your comments - very thought provoking.

Cold here, so I'm sat in a sunny spot in the sitting room, which still holds the warmth from last night's fire :T

Going to tidy round with DS then pot up the mincemeat that's been in the Rayburn for the last couple of hours :j

Off to see Harry Potter this afternoon, then DH is making rabbit casserole for tea :D

  • Good luck!!
Sounds like you have made a fantastic start already :) I had a couple of days decluttering in the summer and it felt fantastic to walk around a clean and airy house afterwards! Id second the music option -put something on that everyone likes and delegate jobs that everyone can manage
also perhaps have a couple of bags/boxes around- one for bin , one for charity shop, one for ebay/carboot etc if there is stuff you might be able to sell .
also set yourself a time (eg an hour at a time) then a 15 min break for a cuppa!!

I may almost be motivated do have a similar day (and any tips for getting OHs involved much appreciated!! ;) )

Well he has kept himself out of the way and isn't bringing me any things that he "thinks might be useful!" I seem to have collected my neighbours two boys as well, so no more helpful children. Have done hall and dogs room - will leave floors until tomorrow when the boys are in school and before I go to work so at least they have a chance of staying clean for a while.

Have arranged with parents and inlaws dates to go and unload their christmas presents - I can now see the floor in my dining room, and parts of the table. Have decided to get some chocolate brown dye and change the colour of the curtains so they look a lot warmer. Then I'll line them with some brown fleece blankets that I got in AS&A earlier in the year - thanks to tips from OSers! Have to post presents to those nearest and dearest that I'm not likely to see - and have managed to get the admin pile from that room down to just one basket! Unloaded some free Cyclamen to my neighbour - must take the rest around to the others a bit later.

Will tackle OH next and get him to swop chairs around in the dining room - this comes from having well meaning inlaws donating things to you!
Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx

March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.
