No real advice (except a cattle prod for your OH). I think some family training in picking up and putting away is probably needed. It's far easier to clean when you're not tidying up as you go along too. My H is bit more domesticated by the sounds of but even I feel like I am the only one who puts stuff away (my kids are 5 and 2). We try and have tidy up time for the kids when they have stopped playing with toys and at the end of the day. The Flylady website speaks of "hotspots" set places in your home that attract clutter like paperwork etc. I have a couple of areas like that so I try and tackle the paperwork and other stuff that gets dumped there twice a day.

Good luck in your endeavours :)

    Here's a link to the de-cluttering thread https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/2168703

It's long but the first & last few posts will give you a 'feel' for it, I find listing really helps me.

GOOD idea starting now rather than January as you'll be clear & ready for Christmas!

  • My best tip is to not spend too much time on here today as tempting as it is you will get twice as much done if you crack on and DO IT! Good luck and come back in 12 hours and let us know how you got on today :D You will go to bed feeling great at what you have achieved!

Yes, please tell us how you get on.

I am also a hoarder and totally cluttered. Haven't been on the decluttering thread for months but if you can it really helps. OH doesn't understand and just puts up with my ways.

    You could inspire me!
Please do not quote spam as this enables it to 'live on' once the spam post is removed. ;)

  • I feel your pain esmf, I am really struggling to get on top of things myself, why don't we resurrect the Flylady anniversary declutter thread, do what you can today, but we could start the declutter this week, I am game, I gave up halfway last time, I will go hunt it down now......

Morning all, we've had a good bit more snow last night. Need to get the kids to sunday school and then stop at the shop.

We're suppose to be going to my sister's for dinner so i'll give her a ring to make sure it's still on. If not i'll grab something from the shop. :D
Sometimes it seems that the going is just too rough.

But you've got the love I need to see me through.

Dusty - it is a difficult one. I refuse permission for newspaper, school website, and the (named) calender but I don't mind anonymous ones at the play. DH used to be a keyholder for somewhere with very high security and they were warned to be careful of their children, and I obviously have upset a lot of people through work. Not paranoid, but also not daft - hence my security settings and lack of surname on Facebook. One of the dads at school works at the local high security hospital and he says they are warned to be careful too. The reality is though if someone wanted to get a picture of me with the boys at pickup or drop off then they quite easily could so what do we gain by refusing permission?

The house is full of cardboard from the new bunk beds. DS's slept really well on their new memory foam mattresses and I am, yet again, the bestiest westiest mum in the world. I got the ones with a futon and desk underneath so hopefully they will spend more time playing up there. I must buy a smoke alarm for their room tomorrow.

  • Lil-me, thank you for your comments and insights. I think part of the problem is that we do not understand how the offenders minds work so do not see why these innocent photos should be banned. We also seem top forget that for decades most people did not take cameras with them and even when cameras became more common parents still did not turn up at performances and expect to take snaps (surely they must disturb other members of the audience)

I know, because I am on FB and have them as friends, that the DD and DS of friends have posted party photos that include me - but I suspect that a friend who is also shown might not be as happy if she knew. People react differently.

Thanks guys! Have tackled the childrens rooms - its not a bribe if they do it before they get it - its an incentive!! So boys rooms now tidied and wiped over - cost - 2 lollies each from my stash! Bathroom & ensuite swiped over and (horrified face) now all windows open as I found some thankfully new mould from condensation! 5 Minute break and then I'm on to the hall and where the dogs sleep. My bed made and I can see the floor !!! Found an extra duvet I can use as a throw when its chilly - just need a suitable cover.

Bless - my youngest has just thrown away a lolly saying I don't like it - its too sugary! Will have to pass this onto the dentist on Tuesday :) Right back to it!
Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx

March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.

jackieglasgow has bumped Dustys anniversary declutter thread. I am going to try this again if anyone else wants to come and play? I can manage this if I do it one box at a time rather than my usual bull in a china shop approach.

Thyroids look increasingly likely, I weighed myself last night and I have gained a stone in a month ! Slopes off to snivel and eat lettuce.
