Fantasia, do not apologise for being "manic" we all have days like that. I am sorry if I sounded frivolous saying you were hormonal but I get like that sometimes. I am currently quite anxious about everything. 5 days in and still no hire car. They tell me it is because the hire car company that are bringing the car are snowed in (5 hours away) the original hire car company are 11/2 hours away and they wouldnt deliver because they were too far away. My local hire car company who I use for work and are 20 mins away have cars available ( I rang them) The insurance company say that I have to wait for the first hire car company to deliver who now say they wont be here til much later in the day. I have no dog food and I have to admit to ranting at the guy on the phone who phoned first thing to say no car! He didnt like it when I asked him to stop calling me sweetie as it was quite patronising. He then turned into Kevin and was very rude. Needless to say that after that the Insurance Company got the wrath of the Cherisong (oh and Coco was shouting in the background whilst on the phone Do you want a cup of tea?)
To everyone having to travel - take care
KC - Love the flashmob brought a tear to my eye too but then I am blubbing at everything right now.
No need to apologise Cheri, you were absolutely right, its funny though because my monthly thing stopped about 2 years ago, but i still get the PMT :rotfl:. Thats my excuse anyway, its probably psychological although it feels very physical and I get very:mad:.
I doooooo hopp they get your car sorted ASAP, I'd be totally fuming in your shoes. Very intolerant of company inefficiency especially when you are paying for a service. Thanks you again for being patient with:o:) my ranting everyone
Clootie its blazing sunshine here, must do something aout the snow on conservatory roof too though.0 -

Do you know, I used to do this with the kids when they were wee - we had Xmas books, cds, videos and crafty stuff.
So tmif (and anyone else) - who's up for making up a Xmas treat basket for this year and following years....
Ideas so far:

White Christmas dvd
Labyrinth dvd (always associate this dvd with Xmas)
Bottle of Baileys

I have just had a strange experience or a kick up the proverbial from the Universe!
Went to visit the elderly neighbour of the old lady who died on Monday. Was dreading it as she's very sad, loney and quite frail herself. She tells me to make myself a drink whilst she finishes talking to her daughter AS SHE NEEDS TO TALK TO ME:eek:
The jist of the conversation:
Her: You have been unhappy and unwell.
Me: Yes but am slowly getting over it.
Her: You're looking at this the wrong way
Me: Errr.......
Her: That job wasn't quite right for you ( How did she know about job?)
ME: Errrrr......
Her: Go home and read that book again and digest it - the answers there. I'm now putting out to THE UNIVERSE that it be kind to you.
Just listen properly.
By which time I'm totally freaked but in a nice sort of way. I'm not sure what it means(yet) but it's certainly given me food for thought.Debt at start of DMP 1/6/09: £2942 - £1942

Hi MG,
Loving the recipes, the other thing I do on mince pies is use a pastry cutter and have a marzipan shape on top. I don't particularyl like the stuff but they taste divine when they are cooked.
Whilst on the recipe subject please could you post the one for red cabbage?
L
This is the very thing for eating with cold meats on boxing day - but tastes pretty darn good with any roast dinner too.
Best made in the slow cooker - then you can just bung it on and leave it. Apparently cabbage needs to be cooked really quickly (stir fried bok-choi, or steamed spring greens) or really slowly and gently to make the most of its delicate sweet tones as opposed to the sulphurous stench of school dinner cabbage IYSWIM?
Heres our two favourites - both for the slow cooker.
SLOW COOKED RED CABBAGE
I chopped eating apple
1 handful sultanas
1/4 cup cider vinegar
2 tbsp sugar or honey
8 cloves
1 stick of cinnamon
Finely shredded red cabbage to fill your slow cooker *
*Its worth filling your slow cooker right up as this keeps in the fridge or you can stash it in the freezer (mine is already in there for Xmas Dinner)
Mix it all up and bung in the slowcooker and cook gently until the cabbage is very tender (I sometimes do this overnight).
BUTTERY WHITE CABBAGE
This is made with hard white cabbage - not the green pointy one.
Finely shredded white cabbage
zest and juice of one lemon
4 tbsp butter
Mix up and cook very gently in the slow cooker untl the cabbage has gone almost translucent. Season very well with lots of black pepper and another squirt of lemon to freshen it up before serving.
This is also really nice with a sprinkling of carraway seeds on just before serving.
:rotfl::rotfl: You know you''d think all we do is eat in this house ..... we do love our fod, but we like it to be good, easy to do and cheap too.
