Very little snow here in the Chilterns. Quite glad as although it is beautiful to look at when it's fresh there is always someone who insists on walking on it or driving on it and then it's spoiled. I don't like it when it's dirty or slushy.
We were due to have a houseful of hubby's cousins today but they have all cancelled as they have more snow than we do. I'm quite glad as I am permanently exhausted at the moment. Went to Tesco with hubby two days ago and spent the rest of the day shattered on the sofa. Yesterday I went to a committee meeting in the morning and then flaked out for the rest of the day. I guess this is an effect of the surgery but I hope it goes away soon as I'm going to need a lot more oomph to get everything ready for Christmas.0 -
LOADS OF SNOW! Had to come into work - we're expected to if we can walk in. Walked in, had to go to a course at another building, course cancelled, walked back to office, made cup of tea.. and that's about it so farDebt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0

I'm afraid I'm getting too old for snow, and one advantage of taking early retirement is being able to look at it out of the window while sipping a mug of hot tea
I had planned to go shopping for vinyl for the bathroom floor (part of my 50 day challenge) but we just had a blizzard here and the sky is very grey, so it can wait .
Susan, sounds like you have a good excuse to keep warm and rest now you have no visitors

We are completely snowed in - neighbour came to dig us out this morning as the snow had drifted 2ft up the door (and those of you who have been here know I'm up a flight of stairs anyways)
So I've been thinking .......................:D. Plenty time to think when you have a few days without connections.
What I want to do is send each and every one of you a "Secret Santa" gift to say thank you for all the support and cheerleading you have given me this year - but try as I might I can't figure out how to get something physical to everyone in time for Christmas, so ............................. gonna have to give you something online instead.
I hereby declare this a "Secret Santa" zone
My gift to you all this morning is a recipe for the most fabulous biscuits on the planet, exactly like expensive Hob Nobs but so much yummier (and Cheaper).
They are "Twinks" recipe from the OS thread and a favourite in this house, and all up and down the street. So this morning I have made a double batch and bagged them up to take to the neighbours from the "Matrix" - also so I can check if they need any shopping in cos my neighbours are getting on a bit IYSWIM. A double gift I suppose.
Try these - you will love them, and if you can spare a few, run soe over to your neighbours as a "Secret Santa" gift from us all.
TWINKS HOB NOBS - makes abut 24
4oz SR Flour
4oz Sugar
4oz Porridge Oats
4oz marg
1 dsp golden syrup
1 dsp boiling water
1/4 tsp bicarb
Melt the marg and the golden syrup together. Pour over all the dry ingredients and add the boiling water.
Mix quickly to make quite a soft dough.
On a piece of silicon paper, greaseproof paper or non-stick baking sheet do the following.
Take a 2" cookie cutter and place it on the baking sheet. Take a walnut sized piece of dough and roll into a ball and put inside the cookie cutter. Press the dough out to form a circle inside the cookie cutter and then lift off the cutter leaving you a perfect circle.
Repeat till you have used up all of you dough - leave a little space around them as they will spread a little.
Cook at 180 c for 15 minutes until spead, golden and smelling fabulous.
Leave to harden before lifting off the storing (although they smell so great you will probably eat a couple on the way to the tin :rotfl:)
