It usually takes 25 minutes from London Bridge, less in the rush hour if he gets a fast train. Certainly not the best part of four hours!!
There was no information and the staff knew as little as the passengers. The forecast is for more snow tonight so will persuade him to work from home if the trains are bad in the morningIt doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0 -
It took me 2.5 hours to go 15 miles. It took hubby 3 hours to do a similar journey. We have 10 inches of snow at the moment... and it is still snowing. I can't move my car forwards or backwards. Snow is right up to the axles. So it looks like I will be working from home tomorrow. Got meetings though, so not sure how I am going to sort that out. Bearing in mind we are in a technological age though, it can't be too hard can it! I will be taking pictures to prove how bad it is though. So my bosses can't bloody argue!
Right... time for bed. Warm and snuggly thoughts to everyone."A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort"Herm Albright 1876-19440 -
Snuggly indeed ladies. Soup all bagged up and made some fairy cakes for the team for tomorrow. Icing was a bit wonky as it's my first time with a piping bag, but I'm getting there!'The road to a friends house is never long'0

Went to bed early as so cold and now up at daft o'clock as a result. Lots of snowfall again so trying to work out how I can gt to train station as I don't think car will leave drive.......
Gritter lorry just went up and down hill so may wait to see if that is enough to allow the buses to run and then get bus to next station along.
In the meantime, coffee is in order me thinks:)
Have a safe day everyone0 -
so I would say that unless you are fully trained in dealing with driving in bad conditions, are a member of the emergency services and peoples lives depend on you getting to work then please, please leave the car at home.
I hope the roads have cleared tonight so that I can get home. At the moment I am working 75 miles from home, so no idea how long it will take me tonight, it takes nearly 2 hours in good conditions. We don't get bad weather often enough to be geared up for it.
Agree that you shouldn't go out unless you have to, but most of us can't afford many unpaid days off.Debts at LBM - Mortgages £128497 - non mortgage £27497 Debt now £[STRIKE]114150[/STRIKE][STRIKE]109032[/STRIKE] 64300 (mortgage) Credit cards left 0

Well, buses and most of trains cancelled so back at home for time being trying to thaw out0

Gilligansyle, I hope you manage to get home okay. Please be careful out there.
Day 3 of working from home for me. We have again had more snow overnight. I'm very lucky because my boss has urged me NOT to travel - my office is 19 miles away. She tried a journey on public transport over this way yesterday and said it was very hairy, she couldn't believe the amount of snow and the slowness of conditions: she didn't make the meeting she had set out for - every stage of travel was difficult and took very much longer than expected.
Luckily I can log on to my work email address from home and keep up with urgent stuff. I'll be doing telephone work with clients rather than face to face meetings.
One very big relief domestically is the year-long intermittent fault in my boiler finally got fixed last week :jjust in the nick of time - the boiler is in the garage and the garage door is currently frozen shut!:rotfl::rotfl:
Keep warm and have the best day you can.

I'm sorry, i know snow can be a pain for a lot of us, but here in Northampton we have about 2 cms... and thats going.
I would love enough snow for the schools to shut so i could snuggle with my boy and spend the day doing christmas decorations, im very jealous of you all with snow, but watching the forecast today it seems determined to skirt around us!
Those that do have to go out please stay safe and warm!0
