Morning all, MORE snow in Glasgow last night! I'll shuffle along the road and a few of my girls walk in so they'll be fine but traffic is very slow in general.

Just going to have a quick dust and get the Xmas bits out.

Stay warm and safe everyone X

we haven't had any more snow, it was starting to melt yesterday. But what melted has now turned to ice and it's very slippery out, Dh has snow tyres on his bike and he was still struggling, said the bike kept slipping from under him :(.

I don't think the snow causes probelems just the afterbit when the slush turns to ice , thats when the accidents happen.

Hope everyone who needs to go out, takes care.

  • We had more snow last night. It is now knee deep. I am snuggled up in the study on my work laptop, doing my work and coming here, and generally having a lovely time. From my study window I can see our local park and the dogs being walked are having the times of their lives!! I am currently trying to persuade hubby that he should not attempt to go to work, even if it has stopped snowing for the time being. He is being obstinate and foolish. Whilst his work ethic is laudable...! :D

    Keep warm and safe everyone.

Gilligan - I hope that you can make it home without too long a journey. I agree we cant all afford unpaid days off work, employers really should be more flexible in these conditions and I am sorry that you have no options. Mind you, if you are away from home I would be doing all I could to get back asap. Take care and let us know that you are home safely.

To all of you that have no snow. I am sorry, I do love the snow it is why I want to live in the Alps. I just get so frustrated that the country comes to a standstill although I accept the argument that it is not worth investing in the infrastructure I am thinking that the winters are starting to get worse so perhaps they should be thinking about it.

I am also feeling very frustrated because I am being passed from pillar to post regarding the courtesy car and/or hire car. 3 days in and still no car delivered. I want it to come because I need to get back behind the wheel sooner rather than laters. Especially as it took me 20 years to start driving after passing my test. I am lost without my car living in a little rural village 7 miles from the nearest shop and with a limited bus service. Positive thoughts being sent to the universe :)

15 inches of snowbalancing precariously on the wall where it has fallen and been left untouched. I can see next doors roof with snow overhanging and vicious looking icicles danglng where its been trying to melt. Avalanche from the roof imminent. There's no one living there atm but its just been sold.
Payday and I need to go to the bank which is a trek through the village:eek::eek:.
I agree about the infrastructure not being necessary but they sooooooo need to do something, we havent even had any of the little snow shifters that scrape the pavements. I've dug our cars out for the past 3 day and only OH's freelander has managed to get in and out of the street. The main roads are driveable with care but thats not much use if you cant get to the main road (and its only 50yards away :mad: .
Am not afraid of driving in the snow, and i need to do abig shop at the end of the week as things are starting to run low now.
I understand that council workers my not be able to get t work either but I havet seen anybody doing anything at al lto try and clear the snow.
    Sorry guys, rant over:o
Stay warm and cosy everybody an if you hav to go out, most important of all, stay safe.

Positive vibes for your hire car cherisong. I know what you mean about wanting to get back behind the wheel quickly. About a month after I passed my test, I managed to shoot backwards down a hill into a car with a little old lady in (she'd just got in to move it out of the way to make my hill start easier - and I then started in reverse.. heading upwards... in a large van...). It just put a little dent in her bumper, and it wasn't really a bad accident at all, but it shook me up so much I had trouble for ages. In fact, a couple of months later I got a ticket for going through a red traffic light - it was just turning, but I panicked because it was at the top of a hill and I didn't want to have to do another hill start (don't know how I'd avoided them for that long living round here!).

Anyway, fingers crossed that they sort out your hire car soon xxx

(((((and hugs to everyone who either has snow and could do without it, or doesn't have snow and wants it))))))) are there many of us in the situation we'd actually prefer?! We've got a fair amount (going out to measure it in a minute :D) but fortunately I don't have to be anywhere until Monday, so it's got a while to sort itself out...
  • Well I really hope that all of you in Manchester who wanted snow are happy now
