Shopping done - it's getting to the stage were the "fresh stuffs" are running out, so the £3 shops will be history I think. Still it's only a challenge - we are not skint enough that we need to do without our fresh fruit and veg.

Bought cheddar cheese, eggs, lemons, tomatoes, red apples, green apples, bananas, carrots, lettuce - total came to £10.30, which is not too bad when I think the cheese was £3.00.

Should keep us going quite a while though.

Tonight we are having chive n cheese omlettes, baked potaoes and salad - made with chard and chives from our garden.:D DS1 is very proud.

We have had a tomato sowing session - the "moneymakers" and the red and yellow cherry toms were done 10 days ago, so this is the next lot IYSWIM.

Sowed plenty "sub-artics" as apparently these are good for tubs and good to ripen this far north, 2 lots of plum, 2 lots of bush and 2 lots of beef. Can you tell we love tomatoes in this house??? These are all from seeds we have been gifted, so its a case of see what does well and save the seeds for next year.

So anyone local who needs tomato plants PM me in a fortnight or so:D

We have also counted up and we have 12 - yes 12!!!! different types of peas/beans - a DIY baked bean factory :rotfl:. Mind you we eat beans in any form in this house, fresh or dried! So I'm thinking that these could make a significant contribution to our food needs in the future.

I find it really interesting that on a day where my "net-worth" increases so much I am still out pottering in our secret garden - and loving sharing the time with the boys.

Maybe I should be looking for a lodger who loves gardening :p

Bargain of the day - a Junior Scrabble set for 40p:j This is to encourage DS1 with his spelling, although i has been hi-jacked by DS2 who is picking up tiles and giving the phonics examples to me: a for apple, g for goat anybody???

Time to go and feed some hungry boys

Well done on your pension MG, nice to see Postman can bring good news just as much as the horrible stuff like bills :D

Thrifty - fancy coming round to mine and giving it all a good lick over with paint <bats eyelids> we've started painting various bits of doors and skirting etc and it's never been completely finished :(

Had the quote for new conservatory approx £12K including VAT and double french doors from dining room into conservatory. OK eye wateringly expensive but will be an investment for house. Hmmmm I wonder how much value it would add to the house, does anyone have a ball park figure on these things? Need to sort out a couple more quotes although I do like the company that came first, have been going 30 years unlike the company who did my friends conservatory for £5K, no longer trading.........

    Evening

We had a lovely afternoon/Eve in the garden. Next doors children and ds2 in the pool and on the trampoline.

Going to have a day to myself tomorrow now, and hopefully get the knitting machine out (never got it from under the stairs last night, ended up decorating the cake instead.)
