  • Oooo I love BBQs - what time do you want me ;)
  • Happy Birthday to Claire's ds2 :T. Have a lovely BBQ.

Another one here who loves the happiness quote.

Eating frogs today in the form of stripping gloss and sanding skirting in front room. Can see the end in sight - just this room and the porch to do and I will have prepped, painted and decorated the whole house from top-to-bottom. Go me :D. This is my two year project coming to an end which was an investment in an MSE and simple future. In future years, all each room will need is a lick of paint on ceiling / walls to freshen them up and a quick sand and retouch of the gloss.

The gardens will then get the same brutal treatment to turn them into simple, low maintenance spaces.

    Right-ho, back to frogs, Thriftyxxx

Right then ladies - you are gonna have to put the kettle on after this one:D

Bearing in mind I only put my "big cheque" up on Monday - and already have had a great result in the MOT costing £20....

....... well the postie has been

............ great big official looking envelope :(

    ......... so deep breath

................ and its from a Pension Company. Apparently way back tin the past when I had a proper job I was contributing to a pension. They have found me again .............. and the pot has grown to £6152.53 :T:T:T

So I am actually a bona fide "grown up" with a pension - albeit for only £332 per annum :o...................... but it is there and I don't have to spend any money setting one up:D

Going to take the kids to the park to celebrate

PS Taking "The Secret" with me to re-read cos there is obviously something to this being postive japes!!!

Now this is what I call a delivery - and I thought I am doing well managing to buy chicken liver by imagining it in the shop last Saturday.

Very please for you, MG. Things are happening....You do realise that you can take this money out and sort some pressing financial matters - like paying the Black Hourse Bank £3,600 off and then when the Universe delivers big time build a nest for yourself. Remember? Pension is the last resort!

I am not sure if that's correct.

I think you can leave a pension scheme and get a refund only in the first 2 years. If a refund is available it will only be what's paid in.

I will google it and check though
  • "
    Refund of contributions

There are two circumstances where contributions to a registered pension scheme may be refunded back to a member:
    • Short service refund lump sum, where an employee leaves pensionable service within two years of joining an occupational pension scheme (taxable on the scheme administrator)
    • Refund of excess contributions lump sum, to cover the amount of contributions that cannot receive tax relief (tax free). "

Yeah I don't think I can withdraw anything except the original contributions - so it's really not worth it:(

But that is the biggest jump in net-worth I have had in one day :D

Sorry, I missed the fact that it is not a private pension. OH was contributing to a private scheme and the rules changed - I think that below a certain amount one can take it out (because it is too small) and after that there are rule about other pension.

But well done on the net wealth increase. This is the spirit.
