Cheri... that is exactly what I have been doing. To no avail!! He just doesn't seem to "get" it at all.
In the grand scheme of things, the cleaning is not that important. I shouldn't complain really, because he is wonderful in every other way... and we do get on really well. We don't argue about money or religion or politics or anything that is common for couples to argue about; it is just the festering housework and keeping the place tidy. I think maybe I need to stop complaining about it and just get on with it. Sometimes I will feel aggrieved but I just need to suck it up and do it. Wasting energy on all this whining is probably counter productive in any case. And at the ageof 41, will my darling ever change?!"A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort"Herm Albright 1876-19440 -
crickett - is there any chance he'd pay for a cleaner to do his share? You tidy, and he pays someone to do the cleaning? Would having a list up on a board help, your jobs and his, and you cross them off as you do them (maybe a chart with stickers and smiley faces and gold stars and treats... after all a 41 year old man is hardly an adult, trust me, mine is 46 and is currently sulking following a tantrum last night)0

I doubt it!! [STRIKE]He is so tight [/STRIKE] He is very frugal, and vetoes anything he considers "unnecessary" expenditure. Sadly, he does consider cleaning unnecessary!! It's funny, people on the outside of our relationship looking in always think that hubby is hen-pecked and under my thumb, but the reality is so totally different. But hey... it works for us usually!!Would having a list up on a board help, your jobs and his, and you cross them off as you do them (maybe a chart with stickers and smiley faces and gold stars and treats... after all a 41 year old man is hardly an adult, trust me, mine is 46 and is currently sulking following a tantrum last night)
That is a good idea... lists in the past have not worked (he "forgets" to check the list!) but to be honest, I have never tried the gold stars and smiley faces and treats. Might have to. It might also make doing the housework and chores fun so I might enjoy it as well!! :rotfl::D"A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort"Herm Albright 1876-19440 -
Go for the charts Crickett - its working on my ten and three year olds ............................ although seeing the chaos surrounding me today you wouldn't think so.
................ but then again I am the one wanting to declutter.
Pal has just been in for a cuppa - she knocked the door and came in (we are both farming girls and although we both now live in town its just what we do). She found me in the corner cupboard of the kitchen (you know the one - the black hole for tupperware lids) Bahookie wiggling in the air, scrubbing pad in hand warbling "I'm a Survivor" along with the radio.
She can't make up her mind if I am getting better or have completely lost it.:rotfl:
Jury is out;)
But - tada!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I found another bag of sushi rice and a jar of pickled ginger in a Tesco's bag. The receipt is from Dundee - so all I can think is that my Mum bought it for me (although I see both were reduced:p). Must have got stashed in there by mistake.
Now I can have my sushi - guilt free and make some for DS1 when he gets home.
Very very MSE - free food

When I read this my first thought is OMG - cricket in a pinny, feather duster and smile on her face, nothing else.:rotfl:
Better ask Firewalker to explain "Pattern Interupt" - she has done the NLP course.
Betcha a batch of Twink's hob nobs that would change his attitude to housework:D

No darling... I am pretty sure you aren't the cowbag. I am also very, very happy to assume that the other Matrix peeps aren't her either!! I am very sure she just wouldn't fit in with us crazy lot!!
I would be shaken to the core if she was a secret MSE'er, but you never know!!
There might be hope for her yet!!

You could also download one of the hide my browser software - which at a touch of a button hides the internet window so you can't even see it open on your desktop iykwim.2020 Mortgage-Free Wannabes #20 £1495.03/£2760 OP0
