    Sweetie - you could have been rolling naked in Cadbury's Cream Eggs for all I care:rotfl:

    Its the fact that OH seems to think he is living in the 1950's that gets me.:eek:

    I can think of various women on here that would have his - well, erm!! for earnings if their OH's came out with that.:D

    Honestly - what planet (apart from Mars) does he think he's inhabiting?

    MG

    PS Sugah is on Skype and has just commented that (pardon me for this direct quote) "he better be able to wrap it around his leg and tuck it in his sock - cos there is no way a real man would come out with craplike that":rotfl:

    Trust a drag-queen to get to the heart of the matter

    One of the problems is, he doesn't like me going up there. Says I am being taken advantage of.

    Been talking to an accountant friend today - he is going to write to the Big Horse Bank and get them to provide me with a Statement of just how much I stilll owe them - as I have had NO correspondance beyond them taking the money every 4 weeks. Hopefully when the inevitable interest is added on it won't be too heartbreaking.

    I was talking to him about paying off my mortgage. I am on an interest only deal - and am beginning to fret about how much I have to pay off. I have one of these Offset accounts which means any money I did overpay would be accessible in case of an emergency.

    There are 23 years - so my figures were Principal/23years/12 months to give a monthly amount - but THAT amount is 126000/23/12 or £456. Simply too much money to even contemplate at the moment.

    -So he asks if I am an optomist or a pessamist? Well I like to think I am a glass half full kind of gal.

    So your financial position is going to get better?

    Yes - when the guarantee is paid I will be about £270 per month better off.

    So if you start paying a little now - and increase by 10% every year, would that make it more "Affordable"

    Define "affordable"? (I'm still cringing at the £456 figure)

    £130 per month for 12 months then £143 per month for the next 12- increase by 10% every year - how does that sound?

    Miles better than £456 per month - but will that pay it off in time?

    So he creates me a spreadsheet - and it does.:T

    "And remember" he says "£100 in 23 years time won't buy you what £100 now will"

    So now I know I need to pay £130 in every month for the next 12 to be "on target" to pay off my mortgage. Of course if I manage to pay more then I can move my MFD forward from 23 years.

    Thats on top of keeping up with the interest payments of course.

    So I now have a plan:j But like he says I need to take action on it. So tonight I transferred £50 just to show willing.

    Its a long way away - but there is a little flicker of light at the end of the tunnel.

    I wonder if theres a table somewhere that shows what £100 today would be worth in 23 years??

    There is!

    The fomula is

    f=c(1+r)^n

    f = future value of money
    c = current value of money
    r = interest rate as a decimal
    n = number or years

  • Tell him to p off Claire - everyone's allowed hobbies/friends/interest away from home.

    I'd personally also tell him he'd better learn to do his own cleaning quick smart as I was going on strike. I am coming to the conclusion that either men are moronic, or women are mugs.... xx

    And staying at home cleaning up after him is NOT being taken advantage of???

    Only you can decide about the market though

    Claire you have more patience that I do by far - I would have been inclined to have smiled sweetly at him and said "no more than I am at home darling, and at least I earn something out of being at the market" Cretin!

    MG sounds like great progress there - once I'm back from holiday I'm determined to knuckle down to some serious decluttering again so will be on the look-out for motivation. :D

    Had a bit of a down day today. The other guests from the guest house invited me out for dinner, and then left in a taxi without me :( Cue copious blubbing on skype to OH. I had such wonderful friends here previously, but now because I don't speak Dutch I don't fit in at all.

    Hugs Lara, hope things improve and the guests leaving without you was just a misunderstanding.

    I was asked what was so important that I couldn't drag myself away from the market at 12 like I said I was, If I was home on time I could have done the cleaning then.

    Fark me I am livid on your behalf :mad: !!!!!! are you his wife to cook and clean for him or are you entitled to a be trying to earn a living?!

    Oh my! It looks like this has been one of the more down than up days.

    Lara, I am sorry to hear about you being left behind - but focus on the main thing; you are there to do some work and to collect material for your PhD. Can you bear it? Yes you can; and there is a chance that nicer people will arrive. You always have us anyway.

    Clare, sorry but your OH's behaviour is highly objectionable (and when I start talking like that what I mean is he is being a right !!!!!). You probably should have a chat - he is wrong but there are two ways out; one break up of relationship; two renegotiation of the rules. My guess is you would rather go with the second.

    Here we have a very poorly Little Boy - he has the virus that is afflicting our house and has been for the last two months. OH has really bad hay fever. I was attached by a virus - a computer one; thank Goodness it was at the end of a presentation I was preparing and had to give at 13.00 today. The rest was OK.
