I've been thinking very hard over the last few days of the "rules" I have accepted into my life without consideration. I realise that a lot of those automatic rules no longer serve what , in my heart at least, I dream of doing.

Perhaps I have stumbled over the root cause of so much self-sabotage, the reason why I desire one thing, but deliver another.

The most glaring one is the "Single Mothers DON'T deserve abundance, you deserve to struggle because what you have done is fundamentally wrong"

Now I am not saying that intellectually I believe this - but I know that psychologically, deep down, in the secret parts of my heart, its EXACTLY what I believe.

Time to start facing up to to these "society acquired" rules - and to start being "unreasonable" by NOT playing by these rules any more.

Perhaps people who do amazing things, do so because they have an "unreasonable" set of rules.

Off to fill a birthday cake with jam and buttercream. Yuck at this time of the morning.

    Good morning

    Happy cake making MG

Well I feel like I've done a few rounds with Mike Tyson this morning :( feeling rather tender around my coxis (sp?) area :( I really hope I've not done any more damage to my back :( and I have quite a few bruises.

Another lovely sunny day here, the boys cleaned their bedrooms last night so I've got a bucket load of washing again. I've just put 1 load on the line waiting for washing machine to finish now.

Mam has got another hospital app today so I need to meet her at 9.30, so best get dressed I suppose as It is going to take me longer to do anything this morning

    MG

This sounds like some serious breakthrough thinking MG.

From a complete outsider's viewpoint, I think you are doing an incredible job raising two young boys. You are giving them security, education, food in their bellies and some damn fine budgeting skills. Don't beat yourself up about being a single Mother. I know of some Couples who do not do half as good a job as you are doing. You should congratulate yourself on doing such a smashing job.

And people who might think you are doing something intrinsically wrong? Should shut their traps until they have walked a mile in your shoes.

    So there. :D

In other news... I am so tired from the travelling and the funeral, I could cry. However, I am going to get through today using tea, sugar and adrenalin! Roll on 4pm though. Then I can drive home and collapse in a heap on the sofa!! :o

I'm just off out, but wanted to post this.

The English teacher at the Orphanage (lovely lovely lady, who called me sister and that chuffed me!) is very interested in pen friends for the teenagers.
I've got my thinking hat on as to how to start this up now...... :D

    Have a great day :A

MG - flat cakes generally happen when you use marg instead of butter. And if they start to peak while baking, a little bit of cool air can discourage them (I'm not sure that any of you really want to know that in commercial kitchens, people blow on the cupcakes to stop them peaking....)

That sentence just screamed of the page at me. It stultifies the meaning of abundance, which in my opinion you have already created MG.
    1) An abundance of love, wisdom and a set of principles that both your boys will carry into their adult lives.
    2) An abundance of joy which makes people's hearts sing just by reading this thread and sharing your journey.

I guess abundance can mean financial security, but that does not make a person happy.
You've done a fantastic job and will continue to do so, I firmly believe 'success' will come to you. But the way I read it, you are already an incredibly successful, resourceful, independent woman.
And you have more 'abundance' than a lot of people are lucky enough to see in an entire lifetime.

MG: I second what Fantasia has so aptly said! You inspire so many people on here and that's virtually - goodness only knows what the MG effect is in real life. Don't beat yourself up.

I have had a lovely morning in the garden, redefined the edges, mowed the lawn for the 1st time and drum roll........ Cleaned all the mildew, mould and debris of the consevatory roof. A little sunshine is a dangerous thing.

£4.88 to report in on the UGC - icing sugar and Stork for baking, a cucumber and spreading cheese for DS1 sandwiches. Must update my signature.

Whilst I was out waiting for the boys - made myself a little list of all the things I ALREADY have in my life. I realise that in lots of areas I am already abundant - and that slowly and surely the financial side must surely follow.

I have two lovely boys (they really are, thats not just Mummy goggles)
I have loads skills I can market
I have the ability to communicate and speak in front of people (no 1 thing people are scared of)
I can write - and people even want to read
I can dream - sometimes even in a Dr King kind of way
I can craft my way to a comfortable house
I can learn just about anything I put my mind to
I don't have any consumer debt (just biz guarantee from bank which will be gone this year)
I have friends - here and in real life
I am healthy ( well getting better every day)
I have enough to eat and a roof over my head
I am still ambitous for my life

................................. having said that, priorities for this afternoon are sorting out DS2's birthday tea for tomorrow from stores.

AHA - so I should stick to Stork when making sponge cakes. Lovely airy sponge, regular crumb and flat as anything on top -

.............. and not a slice came back with the kids so I guess it even tasted fabulous.

Hopefully I will get a slice of tomorrows instead.
