Lurvin the kitchen TMIF and the sock monkeys. Cute.

Got the doc's this afternoon re. my pulled muscle in back, have struggled on all week and worked and not taken time off. Havent taken any painkillers either, just a paracetamol last night. But its really getting to me now. Bending is agony and standing up is agony, and it feels like its travelling to the top of my leg as well.
I must be getting old argh:eek::eek::eek:. However will see what the quack says and then its onwards and upwards as ever.

Positive vibes to all who need them.

Can I ask you all to send some vibes to Groatie Queen too please, she hasn't been around for a while, although I think she still reads, got a lot on right now, but it would be nice for her to know that we are still thinking about her and that she is missed. Thank you xx

    I didn't have internet or a 'puter yesterday!!! I don't know how I didn't flatline :o:o

So fear not Fantasia I am still around ;)

Still I managed to get lots done in the sunshine. First coat of teak oil applied to the garden table. Sowed carrots, lettuce, spring onions and dug out the excess HM compost from the compost bin. Cleared all the washing (but sadly not the ironing :(). Made a start on my admin so felt like it's been a couple of productive days.

I have a card making workshop this morning which I am looking forward to. And speaking of clutter I am doing a table top sale tomorrow so positive vibes that I shift some of my clutter whilst making a little bit of money. I really don't want to be coming back with all this stuff!!!!

TMIF - Love your kitchen, very nice.

Claire - sock monkey looks fine to me :D

Groatie Queen - Hugs and positive vibes for you xxx

Have a great Saturday everyone. Positive vibes for you all :D

    Morning ladies

Taken the bit by the horn and set up a £3 per day payment to the dreaded "Big Horse Bank" to start chipping away at the last debt. Losing £21 per week from my already screamingly tight budget is gonna hurt a bit - so back to basics and look through all my utilities and insurances etc. I already pay £250 per month to them but need to get rid of them and secure the house asap.

    I feel a storecupboard challenge appearing :D

So nice easy stuff that I can do from home from this point.

I'm thinking of approaching our local fruit and veg shop to ask if I can collect their "green scraps" for a few weeks so that I can layer up some raised beds (lasagne gardening style). Maybe if I send in DS1 they will take pity on the poor wee homeschooler.;)

I will also need to source - old newspapers, an some kind of accelerator - like well rotted farmyard manure, chicken poo or something - oh and a bale or two of straw. So I need to have a think about where to scrounge those.

According to my calculations I can create 92 sq ft of growing space (although some is in shade - but perfect for Kale and stuff) - and using sqaure foot gardening that should (in theory) be enough to take care of most of the veggie needs for my wee family (Esp as we are nuts for the fast growing greens like kale, spinach etc)

I have at the back of the house a 2ft high 3ft deep planter (great for lettuce and stuff as its in shade some of the day).

Behind the stone planter is a 5ft high stone wall. Two feet back from the edge of that wall is a 6ft high shiplap fence. I am thinking of creating some planters with reservoirs for water to sit up on top of the wall (5 gallon buckets perhaps) to grow things that I can get to climb up the fence (beans, mangetout, tomatoes, courgettes) - as that part is often in sun as its so high. I can create a gravity fed water system so that I don't need to carry water up high - but I would need a ladder for maintenace and harvest. But it would give me and extra 45 sq ft of usable space.

However thats in the future - today am sitting at my livingroom window sowing the first set of seeds and building a spreadsheet that will give me a daily sowing chore. Fifteen minutes and no-more.

I wonder how much you really can grow if you are smart about it?

Sounds like a plan. Have you got any riding schools/livery yards you could get some muck off?

Loads around here - its juggling buckets a poo wih a baby in the back of the car that will be the challenge. Will have a think on it - see if I can "persuade" someone with decent transport to do a collection.:D

Had a good look in my storecupboard - looks like all I am running low on is canned tomatoes and skimmed milk powder (for thick greek style yogurt). So I think a meander to LIDL with a tenner and the baby buggy to buy a couple of trays might be in order.

Ask them if they have any old feed sacks you can use. I used to do that when I had my horses to bring it home with me.

What about CM's chickens. They must poo....!

Oh yes they do - big time.

I actually mentioned using this the other day to someone but was told that well rotted manure is much better - less smelly - & that was for roses, not even edible food.

But let me know if you want smelly poo......

PS - can also supply dog poo if required :D- & ashes from wood burning stove (which might be useful)
