(WB Hypno, and sorry to hear about OH - I guess it was tough, but you survived xx)

It wasn't the most fun period of my life, initially - it was his choice, not mine, but tbh it is the best thing that could have happened - everyone is much happier, I have a new lease of life, I have discovered "me" again, and as a result the children are much happier too. The divorce is absolute, finances finalised, we have a lovely relaxed clutter free home which is lots of fun, and life is genuinely good.

The secret of no clutter is simple. If you wont use it in the next 6 months, get rid. Unless it is something of value or sentimental value,
I think clutter is a comfort thing, spent years teaching myself to get rid and finally mastered it about 3 years ago.

I mastered clutter also when my OH left me. I had a lovely peaceful minimalist environment that was so easy to clean and so calm to live in. Did I learn Nooooooooo moved in with OH who is definitely a comfort horder. He arrived home from his parents last week with a tshirt from 1981 (holey) and his tracksuit from his swimming club when he was 10 (he is 46 now) sigh. I am currently sitting on the sofa looking at two single beds, six crates, 2 parker knoll fireside chairs(incidentally found the exact same ones on ebay for £350 each - that might shift him) and numerous other boxes that came from my house to storage to the flat to his house. Oh dear. I need help
hence my post this morning. I love clearing clutter and would have it gone if I didnt have OH to contend with.

Hypno it is so lovely to hear how happy and joyful you are these days

I love clearing it too Cheri, so satisfying to see the 'junk' discarded.
I think your OH needs a lesson in clutter management :rotfl:.
My own was bad enough, but was far less tolerant of ex OH's, in the days after he left me with 5 kids for his best mates 21 year old wife.
I gave him an ultimatum about shifting it, he didn't, billed him for storage, he didn't pay lol, so it all got car-booted.
He did get over it though and we are friends now.

I don't eat enough calories, even though I sit on my bum most of the time. I eat breakfast, mid-morning snack, lunch and dinner but I eat (to quote my last NHS dietician) "the diet a 30 stone person should eat to lose weight". I have no idea how to kick start my metabolism!

Thanks NorthernLas - will message you on the other side!

Raquela - you might be spot on, I have a lot of food intollerances and my diet has been a huge problem due to this and IBS. I'll see if I can find a low GI guide online and follow it to see what happens.

The only problem with GI is that it's not the whole picture; a food will have a Glycaemic Index number, but what's more important is it's Glycaemic Load; and that's something that changes depending on how you cook it, or what you cook it with. A nice easy example is a potato; a boiled potato scores quite low on the glycaemic load, because your body processes it slowly. A baked potato on the other hand scores quite highly, your body processes it really quickly, and you can be hungry again quite quickly.

I used to have a lot of food intolerance issues, but now find I'm able to eat the culprits in moderation (mainly wheat for me, and white rice). Still have to be very careful with dairy though!

Here are some more quotes to inspire you to declutter:

"To change skins, evolve into new cycles, I feel one has to learn to discard. If one changes internally, one should not continue to live with the same objects. They reflect one's mind and the psyche of yesterday. I throw away what has no dynamic, living use." - Anais Nin

"Three Rules of Work: Out of clutter find simplicity; From discord find harmony; In the middle of difficulty lies opportunity." - Albert Einstein

"As you simplify your life, the laws of the universe will be simpler; solitude will not be solitude, poverty will not be poverty, nor weakness weakness." - Henry David Thoreau

Sounds like we are all working up to a "spring cleaning de-cluttering" session.

DS2's playgroup is having a car-boot in June - think that sounds as good a point as any to get rid of "stuff".

DS1 (and some peeps from the Matrix) have been sowing seeds about how to spend DS1's last year of freedom before High School, so I think some quiet time over the weekend having a good think and some research may be needed. Also strikes me that his dream is much more possible if we are not holding onto loads of "stuff" come August.

As for today - well our newspaper pots are warmed up and ready to plant in the window today, so veggie planting here we come (15 minutes at a time). Then some serious research into how to turn my bramble patch into a producive "magic garden".

    Good morning

Another beautiful day here today, last load of washing (until boy's clean their rooms) in the machine.

Need to pop to the market, one of the stall holders is making me easter beads for easter earrings.

will upload the picture of the sock monkey in a minute. I'm sure mse won't mind me putting him on here as I am not promoting it to sell.
