    Good morning,

Beautiful day here, blue skies and sunshine, 2 loads of washing on the line, another load in the machine. A friend of mine brought back a pile of ironing yesterday, so we now have clothes all freshly ironed hanging in our wardrobes :)

My hip has started to give me jip big time these last few day's I'm back on the pain killers frequently :( next injection for my back is due in may :).

Up today to sit in my friends stall, while she takes her daughter to the hospital, so I'm going to take some beads (even though the shop is full of them lol) and sit at her little table and make some jewellery.

Souk so glad your mum is home, it must be a huge relief for you.

Morning ladies. Feel pretty rubbish this morning. I went to bed early, slept all night and woke up still feeling crappy. There is a head cold whizzing around at work at the moment, so beginning to wonder if that is what I am cooking. Anyway... feel like I could make a credible extra in a zombie flick this morning. Unfortunately, I have tonnes to do at work (oh, what a shocker that is! NOT!) so this is likely to be my only post for today.

Have a positive one my dears, and see you tomorrow!! :D

Oh, and Souk... great news re your Mum!

  • I woke up this morning with earache, and a throat that feels like I have swallowed razors.

I am at work... but really only because kitchen man said he would be drilling til lunchtime.... it is however finished except for one little bit of electricianing, and it looks superb :)

Send me online paracetamol please (I've had all the physical ones I am allowed!!)

keep smiling though the pain xxx

Hello Matrix peeps. Feeling rather blue at the moment.

Remember that job I went for, which was just perfect for me? Well, they have declined to even interview me. I had tried not to think about it, but I got more and more excited about the possibilities. I am feeling more than a little pants at the moment, although I am sure the Universe has its reasons for me not to go. So now, I have to get excited about moving somewhere in the local area. Sigh.

Will be back feeling positive in the morning, no doubt, but feel pretty crap at the moment.

Oh, sorry to hear that, don't worry, you're not alone, the exact same thing happened to me! I'm choosing to think that it's because the job wasn't right for me right now, because there's a much better one here for me, that will help get me to where I want to be, or because something in a different place is going to materialise. Part of me wonders if it's to spur me on to freelancing... bit of a difficulty at the moment though, as have no finances to start a business at all! I have a job interview this afternoon for a temp to perm thing. I kind of think temp to perm for me might be perfect as if it's not right I can continue looking without feeling bad about leaving!

Positive vibes that something right for you will come along soon :-)

Hiya, I don't know a lot about your situation, and whether either of these would work for you. Am also not a nutritionist, but have read up a lot on nutrition and know what works for me. I would recommend looking at a low glycaemic load type diet, it may also be that you have food intolerance issues. These kinds of diets do naturally have you eating a lot of protein, but are not Atkins type diets as you do still eat carbs, you just eat slower releasing carbs. That should help with the body-starvation mode you seem to be having.

I really like the Patrick Holford Low GL Diet books (I use the cookbook all the time!), and also the Harcombe Diet books by Zoe Harcombe. Your library might have them so you can look without buying!

I should point out that I'm not actually on either of these diets anymore, but my eating is generally in keeping with these, and I feel a lot healthier, and don't put on weight. When I have used it for weight loss it's been useful, although I find no sugar at all difficult!

DS1 and I had a burst of energy and managed to fill up 120 newspaper pots with seed compost. Tomorrow we might even be able to sow some seeds to sit in our south facing window. The aim to grow most of our salady stuff in our teeny garden this year - although we will have to get creative with space.

................... still, planing a garden feels like looking into the future and that can't be bad.

DS1 is desperate to knock together our square foot gardening beds - but he will have to wait until his Mum has a bit more get-up-and-go. Either that or I will have to get on my knees and beg his Grandad to come over and help at some point.

So you're body is in permament starvation mode - how come? That would suggest to me that you're not eating enough to kick start your metabolism. Forgive the stupid question but have you tried eating more than normal? If you diet you're just going to compound the whole weight thing.

I don't eat enough calories, even though I sit on my bum most of the time. I eat breakfast, mid-morning snack, lunch and dinner but I eat (to quote my last NHS dietician) "the diet a 30 stone person should eat to lose weight". I have no idea how to kick start my metabolism!

Thanks NorthernLas - will message you on the other side!

Raquela - you might be spot on, I have a lot of food intollerances and my diet has been a huge problem due to this and IBS. I'll see if I can find a low GI guide online and follow it to see what happens.

    MG,
I have several packets of free seeds which I won't be using. (Carrot - chanternay and mini finger - coriander, basil, pepper chilli, primo cabbage & courgette - although the latter may take up more room than you have.) Would DSI like any or all of them? PM me (or respond here) if he would and I'll pop them in the post.

Hope you get your va-va-voom back soon. Have you looked for cod liver oil capsules, which are a more palatable alternative to taking the liquid?

I am now absolutly shattered and in agony , but I have enjoyed myself, even though it will take a few days to get over it.
