Aw Souk, I guess that being in hospital and away from the family takes its toll. Is there anything fun that you could organise to cheer her up? How about taking in some bubbles and silly puzzles and stuff. When I was in hospital my friend brought two tubs of bubbles and everybody on the ward had a go at blowing bubble competitions to see who could blow the biggest.

Ach, they just want to protect me from it all so they shut me out a bit. Just had a long chat with a family friend and she says to just go and see her. They have this ridiculous notion about not wanting to bother folk but they need to realise that this is me. I can handle it but I need to know whats going on. Thanks X

Have been meaning to ask for ages, what is the Forth Bridge gang

Bitsy this is for you??????? Please I'm intrigued as this bridge both road and rail is about 5 miles away from me. On a clear day I can se it from my upstairs window ;)xx

LOL it's not that interesting. I made a jokey remark on the OS daily thread about the never ending cycle of housework etc and it got compared to painting the Forth Road Bridge :rotfl: so a few of us said we belonged to the Forth Bridge gang :D
A plea for help to all Matrix members.

I am keen to start growing my own fruit and veg but am clueless where to start - we are talking completely and utterly clueless .

Does anyone know of a good website or blog where I can start to learn?

    Many thanks, Thriftyxxx

Check out the Greenfingered board, there is a newbies growing thread I think.
This is my 3rd year growing stuff so feel free to pick my brains if you want :D

Sorry I wasnt around to answer again last night Souk. I hope that you weren't worrying too much on your own. Parents forget that we grow up and handle all kinds of problems on a daily basis so they still try to protect us. You are right that you need to know what's going on so that you can handle it. Perhaps that is how you need to put it to them. Once they understand that they might be more inclined to open up and tell you and it might be nothing at all. It could just be that your mum is a bit down and as you are not used to it that will seem worse. After all we all get down if we are ill and perhaps she just doesn't have the energy to pretend otherwise for you.

I overslept this morning which just isnt like me at all. Still its Sunday and I was busy cleaning all day yesterday - spring caught me up. Today I am going to blitz the bedroom and tomorrow I am on a 5am train to Cardiff  wont be back home until 10pm so that will be very tiring.

Souk, sorry to hear about your worries. Thinking of you and listen to Cheri; she is talking sense.

  • Positive thoughts flying your way Souk, it is a worrying time for you and your Mum and bless her for wanting to shield you. Love the idea of taking in some bubbles to cheer everyone up.

Glad you old doggie is enjoying the sun Claire - we have a grey, drizzly day here today.

Love the Forth Bridge gang Bitsy - do they take members :rotfl:.

Ladies I want to share the love of one of my favourite actors with you. Robert Begnini stars in several of my favourite films. My most favourite is Life is Beautiful. If you havent seen this film you must watch it. Truly it is a beautiful moving story. Anyway, here he is accepting his oscar for that film. He says "It's a sign of mediocrity when you demonstrate gratitude with moderation." This speech demonstrates how to demonstrate gratitude in the greatest way.
"he who kisses the joy as it flies, lives in eternal sunrise" Perhaps we could all learn from him.
Anwyay, have a look he cant fail to make you smile.

Argh, I have the mother of all back aches today. Was taking shopping out of the car boot yesterday, when I felt a twinge, nothing major, bit like a mild stretching. As the evening wore on, I got up out of the chair and howled like a banshee, felt like my back had 'locked' low down IFMS. Also felt every twinge during the night as I position shifted and this morning, it was agony, has eased off a bit since an have kept moving around and doing my usual, but at a slower pace. I've never had back pain in my life, (must be an age thing). Also was filling up on Pinot Grigio Blush last night so I think that dulled it a bit lol.
Am usually careful of being in the proper position when lifting things, straight posture and all things connected, so I'm at a loss as to what I have done. Just know that it hurts a bit, and twinges when I sneeze lol.
Oh well, I daresay I'll get over it, am reasonably fit so fingers crossed.
Have decided against another dane for the time being. My emotions run away with me all the time and I have to be realistic right now.
The right home will come for Bailey.
With regard to Trench the blue pup Cheri, it seems his leg was congenital but not helped due to poor nutrition. He had surgery the other day and is doing well, other leg will be dealt with in the next few weeks. Because he is so young they say he will make a really good recovery, he is staying with Daneline in foster care until his recover is complete. So thats good.

Positive vibes to all who need them xx
