    Morning all.
Well I guess you would all realise that I would start with having to comment on Fantasias posts. This is a very sad case indeed. I am so sorry to hear that Bailey's sister did not make it. I agree that Bailey must have a strong will to have gotten this far. Marru, I loved your advice and have been doing this as well as focusing my attention on his picture and sending loving thoughts. With regards to the people that have done this to him....... deep breath I may be controversial here. I love all animals, I could never hurt an animal and find it hard to understand how anybody could do this to a poor harmless dog. Life is not always black and white though so it is difficult (however hard it is to look at the those pictures) to condemn a person without knowing a full story. I have known of people who truly believe that they are providing the best care possible for their animals. They love their dog but do not know, for many reasons, how to care for them. They may think that hitting a dog, kicking them etc is the best form of discipline, how many of us have heard or know that certain police forces train their dogs with electric shock collars and collars with spikes inside to adjust their behaviour............ is that acceptable? Not to me it isnt and these are supposedly intelligent officials. I am in no way condoning violence to correct a dogs behaviour I am just trying to point out that people dont always know or understand how to handle a dog. So for me I think that these people need to be educated but never again be allowed to own any animal whatsoever. Also sometimes people love their animals so much but have no money to go to a vet, dont know that other avenues are open to them, are too scared to take the dog to the vet for fear of losing them and things escalate very quickly. I know of a few people who have kept their dogs at the end of their lives because they couldnt make the decision to take them to the vets, I also consider that cruel but understand why these things happen.

Anyway, my hobby horse is dismounted. So I will sneak out back to work and be back later for uplifting type of post. Sorry

Cheri - Interesting POV which is fine, it is true that some people don't know how to look after a dog and think that hitting etc are acceptable ways to discipline but where I draw the line is at total neglect, insufficient food, living in it's own faeces and urine. Now it doesn't take a rocket scientist to work out if we wash and feed ourselves then surely we'd do that for a another animal. Not to mention the stench created by not clearing up must have been horrendous. I try to generally remain non judgmental about peoples circumstances but this sort of treatment I can't tolerate excuses about. Same with the neglect that some children suffer. it boils down to how these animals and children are being viewed - life is cheap for some people and it's reflected in the way the creatures around them are treated.

Anyway I am sending lots of vibes for all animals in this situation.

fantasia - bit late but am sending you positive vibes for your interview as I type :D Hope you're knocking their socks off xx

Had busy morning at soft play, school runs etc. sun is out which is LOVELY :D
H is working late tonight so will try and get the kids in bed prompt so I can chill and watch some total fluff on DVD :rotfl: Got left over chicken curry for tea which I dragged out of the freezer. Need to start whittling down some of the left over bits and pieces in there. H has a lot of frozen berries etc which he needs to make some use of.

Not much to report really, need to go and re-make the kids beds as they were stripped this morning.

Positive vibes for the matrix :D Have a great Friday :T

No need to apologise Cheri, can relate to some of what you said. But and its a big but, I'm not so sure that people can be forgiven for that kind of ignorance, but thats just me. I will update when I know the circumstances surrounding Bailey and his sister, but people have to be held accountable for their actions when its caused this kind of horrendous suffering. Education is the key obviously, and the welfare groups do try, but some people just won't listen, take on board etc.
Anyway off my soap box for now lol.
Interview was ok, will know by Tuesday. Butnot holding my breath. If its for me, it won't go past me, if it isn't the Universe will present another opportunity I guess.

Oh I do love a good debate and people being able to air their views. Bitsy, you are so right and I agree wholeheartedly with your sentiments. If you read my post back you will see that at no point do I talk about forgiveness and I did not want to imply that I can forgive people for treating animals in this way. I, as people who know me, have put myself into some very difficult positions in the past to "rescue" animals from harm or neglect.

I agree that the stench would be terrible, which is why I was saying that sometimes things are not black and white. Sometimes people in these situations have mental health problems and are oblivious to what is going on around them.

PLEASE dont all jump on me and say that I am a lilly livered liberal, I really am not and I will normally be the first to want to hang these kind of people by the nadgers but sometimes getting too emotionally entagled into the situation is not necessarily helping the dogs or (if needs be) the "owners" and by helping I am meaning that if they are having mental health issues. Remember that in most of these cases there are neighbours that "turn a blind eye" to what is going on because they are afraid to get involved and be accused of being nosey. I would say that they are equally culpable. I will watch the progress with great interest and I really do hope that Bailey makes a full recovery and finds his way to a new forever home where he can be given all of the love that he so obviously deserves

On brighter matters - it is Friday :T:T Loving the sound of the Chicken Curry Bitsy. I always think that leftovers taste even better than the first time around as the flavours have time to soak in.

  • I love leftovers more than the real meal too - left over take away is always nicer...

Maybe it's because they are "free" and I am a big stingebag :)

However, as I'm in a good mood, I will donate my left over prawn curry to Bailey, if it will help him get better. Bless him.

I showed the pic of him in the basket with the other puppy to the girls at work today, and they were all a bit overcome with emotion :( Go Bailey go! :)

Sorry Cheri please don't think I was having a pop at you :( I wasn't. I understand your POV but for me I can't separate my emotions from that sort of thing :o Certainly don't think you're a lily livered liberal ;)

Chicken curry is currently re-heating :D Love a "free" takeaway :D

Fantasia - Lots of positive vibes that the job is just the right thing for you xx

Ooooh just remembered I have some wine that H bought me for my birthday......Friday night just got better :T

 sorry dont have a wine smiley but I cant believe that you had to "find" a bottle of wine. I know exactly where my wine is and it is usually inside my belly before you can say where's the corkscrew.

Didnt thing you were having a pop at all Bitsy. I love to discuss things like this as I often find that I have a POV and by listening to other people it pulls me up short and makes me think more deeply about an issues. That is why I got to this POV because I could never seperate my emotions from my rationality. It got me into serious trouble once when I confronted a drug dealer in a pub that I was running because he was tormenting another customers westie but that is another story for another day.........

Love curry and leftover curry is even better methinks.

  • I wonder if there's a need to distinguish between neglect and cruelty...

If someone was mentally ill and not capable of caring for their pet, or training it properly - that would be neglect, and although awful, it is possible to comprehend that.

If someone was evil and decided not to feed their pet, or to beat it - that's cruelty...

I picked those two things, because the outcome is the same. The animal is hungry and potentially beaten. Legally they could both be banned from owning animals in the future, but "morally" one is understandable/forgiveable even, and the other is just wrong.

Sometimes I think I would like to be in charge of creating punishments for crimes... I wonder - 21 days sitting in your own wee/poo and no food? I suppose that's against a person's human rights.

I do see how hard it is to separate emotions from all of this, especially for me, because my little man was a victim of abuse. (The RSPCA tried to take the owner to court, but the CPS decided not to pursue it)

Ramble over, just another opinion in the pot... x

It's lurking in a cupboard somewhere. Can't leave it out on the side when I am CMing........nevermind the potential hazard (not that it's likely but have to be whiter than white) wouldn't want people thinking I was having a tipple on the job

Can confirm left over curry was lovely. Even better it was left over HM curry too :T Belly is full. DD is poorly and has a slight temp and fell asleep on my lap :( She's been fine all day but about 4.30 she just flagged. DS is currently building a mountain out of the sofa cushions (the actual cushions we sit on not just the small ones). I foresee an accident waiting in the wings. <sigh> do you think he will be told...........
