Morning all. Feel really weary this morning, which is weird. I went to bed early and slept pretty deeply. Is it a sign of advancing age, when you wake up feeling likeyou have had a night on the tiles, even though you haven't had a spot to drink? Or indeed been anywhere other than the living room, the kitchen and the bedroom?!
Well, I am going to bolster my positivity and then get going. I have lots to do today at work and then I am going to meet a friend for a drink and some food which will be nice! Hubby drove me to the tram stop this morning so I don't have to worry about driving, and it won't be a late night because my friend has to get her 8.30pm train home anyway!I have decided that if I manage to get through the working day having knocked two or three of my nightmare jobs on the head, then I shall treat myself to some window shopping before I meet my friend!
Have a lovely day all, and I hope MG is on the road to recovery!"A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort"Herm Albright 1876-19440 -
How I can tell universe that I don't want any more battles. After having one with ex I am now entering with one with bailiffs (old thing that I thought was sorted is coming back to haunt me). At least this time I think I am in control. Put another way - I can't lose more than I have.
Off to work, have a great day everyone!!!"Everything will be alright in the end. If it's not alright, it's not the end."

Oh dear TMIF what on earth did you do at that time ............... mind you that might be too much information
Crickett, sounds like you slept really well, sleep hangovers are a real pain
Marru, what a nightmare, I dont know what to suggest as it sounds like you have things in hand. It is so difficult when these things are hanging over you. Is there anybody that you can share your worries with? You are so right that they cant take what you dont have. I hope things get sorted soon, I am sure that others will be along who can give better advice but in the meantime big hugs and good luck. Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. I don't know - I just couldn't sleep, and when I can't sleep I fidget! I have to roll over every couple of minutes to get comfy...!
So, I was sent to the sofa, with my pillow in disgrace- where I fidgeted so much, I annoyed the cats, and they went out to catch mice for me. Lovely!
Bad me!
Crickett - you're lucky. I wish I had a sleep hangover instead of the overwhelming urge to pop my head on the desk and go to sleep! Not even coffee has helped the pain this morning!
Still, come Friday I have a week off! Woooooooooooooooooo!0 -
Ahh I have pet-related sleep problems too Cheri, although not as bad as yours. The cat jumps into bed with us each morning at 6:30am, a whole hour before normal waking up time! OH and I are knackered. Maybe we better start going to bed early and getting up at that time. She is so cute though coming in for a cuddle and to demand food.
Marru, so sorry to hear about that (((hugs))). Hope it all gets resolved soon, there's so much advice on bailiffs around here.
At the moment I'm just waiting, waiting, waiting for a lot of people to get back to me before I can move forward with a lot of things - uni work, travel plans for the next fieldwork trip, family visit and wedding. I hope they email me soon!:A :heartpuls June 2014 / £2014 in 2014 / £735.97 / 36.5%0 -

Going to have a quick tidy around then it is a shower for me, and upm the shop to put a necklaced together for a young lady who wants to make her friend a wedding necklaceshe said she tried a few times but the clasp kept coming off.

Me like
And this one too
yes it is silly oclock and I find myself up with Moo again. It is starting to wear thin on me now. I have no clue why he has suddenly taken to waking and barking every night! The nightlight worked for all of 4 hours. There is absolutely nothing wrong with him other than wanting me to sit with him. I need to work out how to break the habit so if anybody has any ideas. Mind you he is 7 in August so maybe he is going a little senile!
I'm afraid the ONLY cure, having ruled out illness or distress caused by fright of some sort, is to simply ignore him. He will eventually get bored, and stop. At the moment, by going to him, you're giving him what he wants, which is attention - he is now learning that he barks in the middle of the night, and then gets company, and I'm afraid (apologies for seeming harsh) that your behaviour in reaction is reinforcing this, although it is of course totally understandable. If you feel you need to get up to check the house when he barks, (understandable again) then simply get up, do your walk around without talking to Moo at all, or even looking at him and then go straight back to bed. The problem comes when you have neighbours who will be disturbed by the barking if you leave him, in which case (again, going to seem harsh) I would suggest getting up, going to him and either administering a firm smack, or getting close into his face and shouting "NO" once, before again turning away and returning to bed. In either case there should be no further dialogue towards him. The first morning he goes right through the night without waking you, have some treats to hand and a big fuss for first thing in the morning. Any night he wakes you he obviously doesn't get the treats etc. It sounds possible like you need to reinforce your/OH's positions as pack leaders?
HTH, and apologies if you find that approach too hard-headed, a lot of people do, but I know from years of experience that it does work!Ahh I have pet-related sleep problems too Cheri, although not as bad as yours. The cat jumps into bed with us each morning at 6:30am, a whole hour before normal waking up time! OH and I are knackered. Maybe we better start going to bed early and getting up at that time. <snip>
Yes, cute, but annoying, I can identify with this. HRH The Cat frequently spends time on the bed overnight, which is fine, but as soon as she deliberately wakes us once we are sure there is no good reason (she has in the past woken us when the alarm hasn't gone off, and also when the thermostat failed on the immersion heater and it was boiling - on that occasion she very likely saved our lives and those of several of our neighbours as had it blown the consequences don't bear thinking about) then she simply gets unceremoniously picked up by the scruff of the neck and dropped over the side of the bed to the floor. Usually a couple of repeats of that solves the problem.
Cheap veggie meals - Veggie bolognese of course, and I find leftover butternut squash goes superbly in risotto too. A good chunky home made soup preferably served up with home made bread, vegetable pizza, curry......! Endless possibilities! have fun experimenting!
All getting back to normal here now thankfully - MrEH is still in some pain but nowhere near as bad as he was - I am hopeful that he will see sense and not try to return to work tomorrow but wait until Friday at which point we can car-share and I can do the driving. If he insists on going back tomorrow then I will have to make two rush-hour journeys to take him into London as there is no way I consider him fit to take the risk of driving yet. As I also have an Inland Revenue Seminar to attend tomorrow morning, in the opposite direction to London, I would rather he takes the sensible path!
Marru and those who have sleep issues - hugs to you - I hope all the battles are won as smoothly and easily as possible.
Crickett your plan to reward a productive day with some window-shopping sounds excellent!
Robsmum hope the plumbing went OK?
Claire hope DS is feeling better now?

Really good advice re naughty cats - I tip mine out of the cat flap if they wake me up before 630 (After that and I figure they are hungry, so I feed them (without talking to them) and go back to bed).0
