So we have lots of things - but whenever anyone is after a specific 'something or other', we've usually got one
My H is a hoarder too but, like Mr Daffs, he often has the very brushes for a motor, plumbing connection, vacuum cleaner hose or whatever that someone needs. It's very MSE but very space consuming! Most recently a girlfriend broke the belt clasp from a favourite jacket. Her H took it apart, said it had lost a vital spring, couldn't get one from any of the DIY shops and - you've guessed it - my H had exactly the right one in a box in the garage and in 2 minutes the belt worked perfectly again!thriftyscotslass wrote: »Afternoon all
Hope you get your sticky labels sorted Claire - lots of good suggestions there from Troglydyte.
Ramble alert...
Are there any keen knitters out there in the matrix that can point me towards some good websites or blogs? When I sit down in the evening I have got into the habit of spending a couple of hours on MSE or just aimlessly browsing the net. At the moment I am obsessing about saving money and paying off our debt. We have good solid foundations and money-saving principals in place - spending hours and hours on MSE is not going to make it happen any faster. I need to clear my head.

Claire - I always try white spirit and most often it works but not always......

Good morning matrix
Grey and wet here but forecast for tomorrow is good.
Chasing my tail at the moment. Hubby is still mending his broken leg - gradually getting more mobile but it's slow progress. Apparently it was a very bad break and, of course, he's now officially an OAP so these things will take longer. Daughter is in the depths of a very worrying postnatal depression so I'm spending time with her and the babe while sil is at work. She's having quite a battle but it's a battle that WILL be won.
Have a good day

Has she been to the Docs or spoken to her midwife/health visitor (whoever it is you see after having a baby, I don't) Sue?
It;s not worth trying to fight the black dog (however it's caused) without a bit of help xx0 -
Morning Matrix. My, the weather is grim today, isn't it?! At least it is in Nottingham. It is so wet in fact, that the bottom of my trousers are wet through. And that is just walking from the tram to the office. Ugh. Horrid weather!
However... have a little bit of time to post here and "in the other place", and I feel really sunny and optimistic today. Which I must say makes a nice change! Hubby and I celebrated our 8th wedding anniversary yesterday, and went to a local gastropub for dinner last night. Whilst not MSE, it was a lovely treat, and the food was delicious. I think it always tastes better when you haven't cooked it, or have to do the dishes after it!I have a busy day at work ahead of me, and then tonight it is home to "glamour night". Basically, I go home, change into slobs and then clean the house, scrub the bogs, mop the floors, do the laundry and the ironing, that kind of thing. I hate doing it, but I like having a clean house, so needs must!
Congratulations to Marru and everyone who requires it, and hugs to everyone else. Now really MUST get on with work!Lots of love to all.

Crickett - Happy Anniversary for yesterday. Nice to see you sounding so cheery
Did my Shred work out this morning. It's getting harder to do as each day passes. However I do feel a bit more energised (just don't go asking me to lift something heavy as I fear my popeye muscles will fail)
Not much going on, Claire I got your email, I will let you know cost when I actually work out what to charge
Have a great day everyone. Will try and check in again later. Positive vibes for you allI have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks

Hello all, sorry I have been AWOL. Lots going on here. Both good and a bit of very bad at the moment. Not willing to share the bad but suffice to say that it is a big black cloud hanging over us. Still I have been through worse and things will resolve themselves eventually so I refuse to be reduced to a blethering heap of tears.
Not read thoroughly but it sounds like there are lots of things going on here. Congratulations Marru on your exam results and winning the battle. As for black dogs, well, TMIF is right - it isnt worth trying to fight it alone.
Now I am off back to work and tell myself I am beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!!!
By the way, I am loving the photos of Leyla and Claire- I will catch up over the other side when I can. Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, I will try again tomorrow -- Mary Anne Radmacher0 -

Cherisong - you are one of the most beautiful people I know. Your goodness and willingness to help and support others shines through your posts. I am sorry that you are having a carp time of it - just know that there are a whole host of willing hands ready to offer a hug, cup of tea and plate of twinks. Be gentle with yourself.
Well done on doing Shred Bitsy :T
Sue - remember to take some time for you as well as supporting oh and dd. Positive vibes for your dd flying your way.
Crickett - lol at "glamour nights" but a clean house is worth it.
Thank you to all who posted knitting links. TMIF - thanks for the cross-stitch pattern offers, I'll defo take you up on that at a later date because I love X-stitch Xmas decs and samplers.
Ravelry - ooohhhh my :T. Dd has already spotted a long chunky scarf that she would like for next winter so I need to learn how to knit cable pattern. I don't mind because I spent £30, yes you read that correctly, £30 on a Xmas present scarf from River Island this year for her.
So I'm going to start with this scarf plus some little bits and bobs for preemie and still-born babes. The story behind Lisa's stars is harrowing and I was so inspired by the lady behind the Loving Hands site.... and I still haven't looked at our own MSE threads yet - jeesh.
Right off to make some chilli for tea - dd is bringing home the lad who is taking her to the prom for tea to see her dress so that he can get a matching tie - poor guy, I don't think he knows what he has got himself into, I see a thumbprint in his forehead a mile deep already and he's just 16 :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:.0 -
Cable is as complicated as all other knitting - it's not. You get a cute dinky little special needle to do it on... There are millions of tutorials on You-Tube. You can do it0

(((Cheri))) you ARE a beautiful lovely person and I hope that the black clouds pass by very quickly xx0
