    Morning All,

Sorry for being A.W.O.L for a few days have got rather engrossed in a bout of premature Spring fever. Had a major decluttering and cleaning session and have only got the kitchen left ( half way through that). Because our house is small I have to do it regularly but we still seem to have loads of clutter and junk:mad:

Our village was reeling with shock yesterday as one of the village characters was killed on Sunday evening in an accident. Everyone knew and liked him and he had a heart of gold. Was a friend to everyone and also one of OH's mates. Sad day indeed.

Thrifty: Huge hugs for you. I don't know much about autisim (only done a small amount of work in that field) but do know the sufferes are very special people. Is there an autism group/ advisory that could help you. The disability advisors are not specialists and only know the law as applied to work and disability. I found them useless when trying to return to work with something as simple as M.E!

MG: Hope you have found the no communication challenge worthwhile and hope you'll be posting soon. Miss your breezy posts.

Fantasia: Leyla looks adorable. Well done for following your dream.

Lots of positive vibes to everyone.

MG's been gone for over a week now. I wanted to ask her about yoghurt makers as I seem to remember she has one.

Have any of you other ladies got a yoghurt maker. How do they work and would you recommend one?

    Thanks! :) x

Morning all, Thrifty hugs to you and hope it goes well with your boy.

Robsmum, sorry to hear about your loss. My friends mum died last night. I'm completely gutted. Don't know the woman personaly but my poor friend is so upset. It was cancer and she only found out in October. Such a short time to finish off their relationship. Having a wobble today and want to see my own mum. Was planning to visit her this weekend anyway but will definetely go now. X

So many losses. But it's so true that it takes something like this to make you take stock and appreciate what you have. It's certainly pulled OH and I up a bit - you just never know what's round the corner.

On a happier note, weekly housework blitz done. First lot of junk on Freecyle. Now going to transplant some seedlings (tomatoes) and have a bit of therapy in the garden for an hour, whilst the weather holds.

Sorry to hear about your loss, Robsmum. :(

Is that three now? Can we count on no more passings over for a while?

  • Thanks for the support guys.

Sorry to hear about people's losses even if they are indirect - it certainly does make you stop and think about what's important.

Robsmum - I'm definitely on a premature spring clean here as well - I'm running out of dirty spots to tackle :T

Souk - hope you have a lovely weekend with your Mum - sending you a virtual (((hug))) to be going on with.

Inapickle - sorry don't know much about yoghourt-makers - ours are always bought ones :o

Well meeting with disability employment advisor was as expected. It is the same old story of not enough funds, not enough care-workers, not enough available placements and ongoing cutting of all these services. It feels like we are in a hospital triage system where we never get to see the doctor iyswim. We are to meet back in a month. I so feel for my ds - all he wants is to be the same as his sister and other young people :(.

Right need to snap out of this and get going - lunch, cleaning, ironing in that order. Keep warm everyone, the wind would cut you in half here today.

Thrifty - I am not sure what services you have up near you but a Autism West Midlands operate Aspire which aims to help those on the spectrum into employment. Maybe worth checking if something similar operates near you? x

Inapickle - In the absence of MG will this thread on OS help at all? https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/717089 You don't actually need a yoghurt maker. I've used a flask before now but found I had better results using UHT rather than normal milk HTH

Sorry been awol ladies, spent the morning doing some sewing with my mum's guidance :D

Not much to report and have to dash out on the school run.

Hugs for all of you dealing with losses, sending you all lots of positive vibes :D

Good evening Thrifty, and I am very sorry to hear about your experience. Not surprised though. Have you explored other possibilities? There is no cure but there are coping mechanisms that can be learned. Hard, though - I really know, because although I don't have autism I am a high scorer on the scale. Even this one is hard (the fact that I have to understand feelings; the obsessions; etc,)

I seem to remember that your son is rather affected but: what is his gift? What does he like doing? Can you help him start something with this?

If you need to discuss more - the other side is there for this kind of thing.
