Hi Matrix, could really do with some positivty as feeling very down which is in complete contrast to the beginning of the week. Had problems with our house being very damp and have tried numerous times to get the land agent to do something about it. Eventually resorted to getting the environmental health in last year. They have been in contac today to advise us that as we are on an unsecured tenancy we could be evicted. the nature of the work required on the house means we'd have to move out. I feel that I've been trying to protect our family from the effects of damp and now we could be homeless. We did ask the EH to drop the case but he can't.

    Lucielle,
I'm so sorry. I do feel for you as we have had major problems with damp in this house, now sorted. Would you be eligible to be rehoused if the local authority condemn the house as needing work before it is fit for human habitation?
It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!

Lucielle, this is dreadful news for you. You must be so scared right now. Deep breaths. I dont think that the landlord/local authority can evict you without you having a place to go to.

Is anybody in the family on any kind of disability benefit? Or have schoolchildren. If so then I am sure that you would have to be given priority to be housed by the LA. First thing tomorrow contact Shelter for advice. They are not just there for currently homeless people, they are there to help with any kind of housing issues. They will be able to advise you what to do.

I know that this is easy to say but try not to panic too much. Deep breaths and see this as a problem to be solved like any other problem you face every day (albeit a scarier one than post it is just a problem to be solved like others - that will take the fear out). Break down what you need to do and make a plan so for example
    • speak to environmental health and ask for a full report on the situation
    • phone the local authority to speak to a housing adviser
    • phone Shelter and ask them for advice on your rights etc

Keep checking in here with us lot and we will try to talk you through the  and cheer you on when we can.
    Big, big, hugs

Just popped back to say that I found this link for you http://england.shelter.org.uk/get_advice/eviction Not sure where you are but there are different pages for England and Scotland and I think a different website for Wales.

  • Hi,

I have been a lurker on this and the other Matrix threads for ages ( still not finished reading the last matrix one, but nearly there), and I just thought I ought to come on and say what an inspiring and helpful bunch of people you all are. I am slowly implementing some of the ideas I have been getting from you and maybe soon, I will be able to join in with some of the challenges you do. I always tend to feel more optimistic at the start of a new year, but this year I am raring to go! I am off to trawl the charity shops today, to see if I can find a copy of The Secret - might keep me on track!

lucille - I don't have any advice to add but just wanted to send you some hugs xxx

claudiac - I have an ebook of The Secret if you want a copy? Just send me a PM.

    Morning everyone.
Feel a bit more positive about things this morning. I do have a habit of putting myself under pressure which is most unhelpful :o Will just take each day as it comes. If I get to motivated to do more craft then fine but I am not going to start beating myself up for not doing it.

Want to stress Claire I am still going to make your plier roll for you - I've got the sewing machine and I most definately want to have a play :D If you could give me some widths of your pliers so I can make the pockets the right size that would be really good.

Cold here but dry. Evenings are drawing out which is great, season is slowly on the change. Going to get some housework done and stip all the bedding and get it washed.

Have great days everyone, lots of positive and productive vibes coming your way.

MG - I love enamelware :D When we used to go camping I insisted on enamel plates and mugs, was soooooooo much nicer LOL
I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knife :D Louise Brooks
