Sorry been MIA this week, been struggling to feel positive after a school review on Wednesday and just have felt a bit flat regarding everything :o

Just wanted to pop on to say well done to JC :D I missed off your news on the OS thread so apologies :o

Cheery - Go girl, you can do this. Sending you lots of positive vibes that you'll get it finished and in tip top form by the deadline.

Need to see if I can construct a chopstick "buddy" for my chopsticks (for the kids to use). If I buy them off internet I am looking at nearly £7 so just wondered what I could contruct with a bit of sellotape and something else, as inspired by MG and her makes :D

Thanks scottish lass, I don't think they're linked, tooth problem is that part of it fell out last Tuesday! well, can't figure out whether it wsa part of tooth or filling, but there's definitely a hole! Doesn't ache as such, just getting rather sensitive now, and I'm having to be very careful eating, and by the time I get to my actual appointment next Friday it will have had a gaping hole in it for over a fortnight so I'd rather sort it out before then if I can! It's more bits of sharp pain than an ache - which is actually easier to deal with.

Cold is just a cold :) I've been phding on top of working full time for several weeks, been up and down the country on the train a lot, and am generally run down :o I've also probably not been eating exceptionally well :o

Rang dentist - it was engaged :rotfl:

Hooray for your last day at work TDQ! :T

((((((bitsy beans))))))) hope you can feel a bit more positive this week. But don't hide when you're not feeling positive, it's what I tend to do, and it's no good at all! Keep popping in anyway! :T

I've spoken to my supervisor (made me feel slightly better that he was stressed too about his own work - is that mean?? :rotfl:). He's advised me to email examiner to warn him I plan to send stuff on Sunday and to check that's a good time for him. So yet another scary thing to do today (he actually advised me to ring, and I had to confess I was too scared :rotfl: Oh dear!) :D

Just about staying positive though :T

Just remember both of you, whatever it is.
You can, You can, You can, You can,
    Cos the Universe says so.
    Cheery, it will come together.
Bitsy, let all the negativity fly out of the window.

You gotta have faith (I have in both of you).
Now both of you go rock it, ;):D

Not mean at all - any more than me getting comfort that a PhD student gets stressed :rotfl:

Have just had to spend £12 extra because the hotel I had found is now full and I had to find another one - why? Because I was dithering about booking for my first OU tutorial (too far to do the trip in one day)
Why? Partly I get nervous/stressed travelling - partly I don't want to think about sitting in a room full of people far brighter and more knowledgeable than me. :o

craftyscholar, if it comforts you to know that a PhD student gets stressed, then I'm very pleased to help - I have been stressed and feeling in adequate about this for 7 years :D

And I'm sure all those people won't be brighter or more knowledgeable than you at all! I bet you pretty much every single one of them will be sitting there thinking something similar :) It's about openness and willingness to learn, nobody will be judging you, the tutorials are there so you can go and learn - from the tutor AND from each other - and yes, that means people will be learning something from you too! :T

Well done on booking the hotel though :T And £12 ain't too bad in the grand scheme of things :) Is it far?
  • JC - congrats on the job :j:j:j

Bitsy - Cheery's right, don't hide, a problem shared is a problem halved and all that.

Cheery - lots of breathing - in for 2, out for 4 - peace in, fear out.
Can you set up a baseline pain relief for yourself - extra strength paracetomol and / or ibuprofen every 4 hours. This should help with the toothache and the cold symtoms. Ditch the lemsip and bring out the big guns - not recommended for long-term but should get you through the weekend.
Ring the dentist - have just come back from taking dd, she needed a tiny filling but it was amazing how much pain that tiny hole was causing her. Good idea to ditch the emotive comment which was no help what-so-ever and concentrate on the suggestions that can be actioned.
Keep on popping on here - someone will be around for moral support.

Absolutely cannot wait until I can tell everyone that I know a Dr Daffs :rotfl:.

    Hugs to all, Thriftyxxx

I've reading and lurking but not felt like posting as I didn't have anything good to say :o Bl00dy autism, just when I think I am cool with it something comes along to upset me :o
Still I am getting back to myself, I just have to have a good cry about things and then move on.

Have been thinking about the craft stuff I wanted to achieve this year and TBH I am struggling. I feel I am juggling so much and I don't think I can manage to carry on the way I envisaged :o I shall try and get some stuff made but I don't think I am going to be able to start up some sort of side business out of it at the moment, I just don't have the time or the energy alongside my daily stress with DS (and DD, who looks like an angel but really is a devil in disguise )

Go cheery, go cheery!! Well even if the conclusions need a bit more work, that still means that the vast majority is done and approved. I bet there were points in the past where you thought those bits would never be done, and now they are. We all have faith in you finishing, and think about that super proud day when you'll be graduating, it's going to be wonderful! You can do it!

(((Bitsy beans))))))) I don't blame you for feeling like you do, you're having a rough time of it at the minute! Rather than setting yourself huge goals about setting up a business when you might not have the time or energy, why not, for now, just concentrate on enjoying the little bits you *can* do, as and when you can? And remember, if you do set up a business, it can be done over a very long space of time, it doesn't all have to be done in a couple of months! Do you have a list of all the things that need doing? How about just a tiny little one each week, even if it's just one phone call?
