I'd help if I was in the vicinity MG but I am sure you can raise loads of local willing hands.

Claire - cool, no green it is then. Can you give me some wdiths of your pliers/tools etc so I can make sure once you get this roll you'll actually be able to use it LOL!

No idea what resources you are planning to use MG, but thought that I would mention that Poundland do a number of key stage type books. Ebay may also prove a good source. What maths books are you using at the mo ? We used TJ Maths and got the books here:

congratulations Susan and family. I love a bit of good news.

MG, I have been thinking about you today and I am glad that you are still posting. Seems that making that decision will help you to move forward. I am not sure if you have checked out the managing change thread on the other side but according to Kublers curve you are right where you should expect to be at this point of the changes in your life. Check out the thread ( I really should go back in and do some more with it) it might help you (not the kids, not your mum but YOU - 15 minutes is all it will take so you can go back to them later.)
I second your Mums suggestion re the barn raising. When I had to get my last house ready for selling in next to no time my sister, goddaughter and friend all turned up rolled their sleeves up and we got cleaning and painting. It was the most fun cleaning and painting I have ever had so it could also be a way of you having a girlie few days.

Maybe if you post over there what books you need for homeschooling some of the educators and teachers amongst us may have some floating around spare.

MG another here agreeing with what everyone has said. I think online courses could be the way for you eventually and I'm sure the mentors will still be behind you, as will all of us :) I am also volunteering to be a guinea pig :) Take care of you and your family first xx

  • Hi MG glad you made a decision that is right for you. :)

Personally, as a teacher, i really wouldn't bother buying books- Local libraries are a good source of curriculum stuff.

In all honesty, charity shops usually box up really good stuff and will let you have boxes of Key Stage appropriate materials for about a tenner. I get loads for my pupils like that and they really appreciate it. I also would check out car boots.

Primary Schools are always buying in New Schemes and the old- often better stuff- is left languishing at the back of cupboards. Have an ask and see what they have or are willing to let you have. I have full schemes of work for GCSE which are a bit boring, but great, as they are thorough and go into everything needed in detail.

A lot of the modern schemes, as in the books- are taught in bits- and need lots of support material- no wonder the kids don't learn!! They really should stick to basics ( but that is my personal bug bear)

Anything i can help with i will.

    Regards
