  • Mornin' Claire - mmmnn bacon & eggs. I'm having brekkie too, toast & marmalade :D. Been up since 7, lots of house stuff done and am half way thro' kitchen at the moment - need to degunge cooker and microwave and mop kitchen floor, everyone sounds like they have suckers attached to their feet when they walk across it :rotfl:.

(((Hugs))) to your oh, is he taking pain relief on a regular basis?

RobsMum and Karmacat - hope you feel better soon. Hopefully we are almost thro' the lurgy season. If you are like us we are looking forward to a lurgy-free few months before the hay-fever season starts :rotfl:.

Not much to report so I shall send hugs and positive/get well vibes.

Claire - Sorry to hear about H's accident. Hope you can all manage life etc between you. On the plus side perhaps becoming more ambidexterous can only be a good thing. I am lefty but can also write with my right hand etc. Stuff growing up was all geared for right handed peeps so although I think I am naturally ambidexterous I think it's all added to it.

Susan - :( at the thought of you crawling round the floor. Sorry to hear that your H had to have aother op. Onwards and upwards for you both xx

MG - There is a poster on MSE called Pipkin71 (I think I've got the right numbers). She home schools her girls so if you have any questions I am sure she'll be happy to answer them and give you an insight to what it's actually like.

  • January is never very high on my list of favourite months once it arrives – I suppose we tend to look forward to it as the start of a fresh year, resolutions and all that – then we have to deal with the reality – bad weather – limited daylight etc.

This year there seem to be more than a few people coping with illness, injuries, stress about work.

Not sure if it will help, but I’m sending a heap of positive vibes into the air – please grab what you need.

Sorry to hear about everyone's bad times.

Work is rather stressful this month - important deadline coming up- which meant me coming in to work yesterday which I don't like and has left me tired and eating sugar to boost energy which makes me depressed because then that the diet isn't working. It's a vicious cycle and I know it is only for a few weeks but that doesn't seem to help whilst in the middle of it.

I do feel rather guilty however at posting that when there are clearly some of you in far worse positions.

If it's causing you stress then it is a problem for you and you should share it.
I can't offer advice, but hopefully a ((hug)) will help.

Oh, would dried fruit help rather than whatever sugar form you have been snacking on?

Don't feel guilty for posting, we are all here to support each other.

On a fab mse note, we have been shopping for food to fill the freezer, (dh was worried that if he was off work for a while that there would be limited money for food so wanted to get it while there was money :) Anyway we went into cash generator to have a look and they had a hp deskjet printer reduced to £7.99  So I am now the new proud owner of a printer again :) which will make life a hell of a lot easier :) just need to buy ink as the colour is nearly out so is the black but it works.

  • Helen105, I hear ya sister. I am in the same boat. Just got yet another major project with stupidly tight deadlines...on top of all the normal stuff at this time of year, which is on top of the day job. Argh! I am in need of a vodka and tonic... easy on the tonic!! :D

  • Hello, long time no see! Memorygirl I am really excited to hear about your venture into homeschooling. Your DS must be similar age to mine. This constantly plays on my mind as DS1 really doesn't like school and doesn't get the support he needs for his dyslexia. The approach I'm taking at the moment is to work at his school and see if that approves communication and help me to be more hands on. I had the ear of the SENCo today about what seems like a really minor matter that I probably wouldn't have bothered about if I wasn't there. But by mentioning it she is able to take it up with the speech therapist which should help. I am on a yahoo group for home educators - we have a really strong support network here. My friend moderates it so if you want I'll look it up and forward it to you? I also found a recommendation for a really good book - I can't remember what it was called but it really reassured me as it demonstrated how home educated children learn most effectively through the chaos of daily life! It will be lovely hearing how you get on. It's a massively brave step because despite me hating the routines and feeling that the education is inadequate school does provide pretty convenient childcare!

I have looked and looked at alternative forms of education for DS1 as I know he would benefit from being outside the mainstream. Sadly, my finances are way too inadequate to support this for 1 of them let alone 3 of them! There would even be inherent costs to HE as I wouldn't be able to work and HE.

Anyway, just dipping in. Feeling more positive having come to the end of a horrible year! Looking forward to chatting to you all more in 2011!
