What is happening? All these mis-adventures cannot be anything more than a blip on an otherwise wonderful year. Good opportunity for power thinking: stuff like this happens and it will always do. The important thing is what do we learn?

From yesterday I learned two things: 1) in our busy schedules we have always to allow time for unexpected stuff (like son having an op; husband breaking a wrist etc.); and 2) we always have to allow time and space for our loved ones.

Thank you FW. Your wise words have put things in perspective for me. 2011 WILL be a good year and come next Christmas what, right now, seems such a difficult time, will have faded into the background.

Oh Sue, you do sound as though you have been through the wars recently. You are doing so well to struggle on with such pain and having to help husband as well, cannot be easy.

One thing I can recommend for the throat is Manuka Honey - I bought my daughter a jar for Christmas (not cheap!) as she suffers with her throat. Whenever she wakes in pain, she takes a teaspoon of honey and the pain goes away. Sadly she doesn't like the taste of it, so won't take it regularly, but I have told her she has got to use up the whole jar because it was so expensive!!

Just a thought that you might be able to try it. Best Wishes for the new arrival too!

Thank you Maty and Tenmah. I started taking echinacea and Manuka honey when I had a flu type bug before Christmas. I finished the course of echinacea and restarted the honey to sooth the throat. Think I just got a bit run down. I thought Firewalker's comment was quite profound - sometimes someone says something that really strikes a chord. She has made me feel a lot better and I'm determined to find the optimism I had at the very start of the year.

Positive vibes for Wednesday please. We shall e anxious until this babe is safely delivered.

Claire, sorry I seem to have lost a page of comments when I posted that one so just realised that you had already answered. Hope that things aren't too bad. At least you have the boys to help. Love that you can see a positive in it. Maybe he will understand a bit more. Sometimes we have to walk a mile in somebody's shoes to truly understand even though we think we understand what they are dealing with.

Susan, sounds like you need a hug.((((hug)))) Manuka honey - I swear by it. Always a jar in this house. Try mixing it with some lemon and hot water (maybe even a bit of whiskey).

MG - good news on the school. Why not see if there is a little cafe nearby that does internet access. There are lots near me and I sometimes take myself off there to work just so I can interact with people. It gets hard working from home everyday so it might be a littel blessing in disguise for you.

Maty - great things think alike. I too felt guilty for thinking it.

    Evening ladies.

Well I have certainly gone AWOL for the last few weeks so apologies.

I was expecting to have a week off between Christmas and New Year but that didn't happen as well as an interesting Christmas/Boxing day it all got a bit hectic!

Got a call on Christmas day to say my mum was in A&E and had lost her memory:eek: By the time I had travelled the 265 miles (luckily I dont drink), she had started to get it back. I now understand why they torture people with sleep deprivation. Doctors did MRI but no cause or perm damage so they think it could have been a virus causing the menigies to swell.

Then they day after boxing day got a txt from our current acting head that he had broken his leg so wouldn't be returning to work..... so I get up starting my new job a week early. Not really what I wanted as this was my time to prepare, never mind.

But, loving the job so thank you guys for making me think about why I should go for it even if you all did it subconciously:rotfl:.

    Take Care all

    Sx

Righto!!! We are up, breakfasted and dressed and about to go out and scrape the car.

Fingers crossed we make it to the big town and school.

TBH I'm not sure how its going to work - but I will use the library today to do some research into homeschooling for DS1 and get everything prepared for teaching him after Easter (just in case).

I'm going to spend 5 minutes seeing if I can find my log-in details for here, then I can log-in through the day.

    Fingers crossed

  • Good luck for today MG. It will probably take a wee while for things to take shape, the main thing is that the kids, parents and teachers are still in contact. Good idea about researching home-ed - that's exactly what I would do, I like a good old belt and braces approach.

Hope you find your log-in details. Take care all, Thriftyxxx

Hugs to everyone who needs them. I still have the lurgy and will look out for the honey, have started on echinachea and think that's helping. Off work until Wednesday but you have definately influenced my way of thinking. Instead of thinking "no work, no pay" I'm thinking "Bonus days off - going to formulize my New Year plan" - the money or lack of it hasn't really crossed my mind:j

I've been lurking a lot on the thread, reading but not posting so thought I'd better pop in properly and say, I'm still here, still getting on, but not a huge amount of energy to do it with - I got ill again over Christmas, I'd only been well for a week or so, so its just about keeping going. But I *am* keeping going, and getting on track bit by bit.

Positive vibes to all - sharing the energy makes it accelerate, and we all end up with more - energy is infinite!
