Memorygirls - The Matrix Reloaded

The plans looks very organised! There seems to be a good mix of subjects; as a scientist/ naturalist though I'd be keen to see a bit more of this tied in with other things. There are lots of things that can be the basis for exploring and experiments - things like the RSPB big garden birdwatch at the end of January is great for doing stuff like this - you can make charts of what kind of birds you see, whether they arrive individually or in groups etc, do little experiments to see what birds like what kind of foods - all that sort of thing.
I don't know what kind of home ed resources there are near you, but you might find all sorts of things. Near here I know there are groups of home educators who get together for things like team sports, outdoor activities etc so that might be worth looking into.
And I'd allow time to just go out and do stuff outdoors, the way we used to do 'back when I was young'... :rotfl:
On a completely different subject, are you still going ahead with the scheduled courses as on your website?0 -
HEEELLOOOOOOOO

I would think tha DS1 need more play with other children and have more collective activities. But than I might be just a big ol' anarchist.
We are having a bit of a crisis - Little Boy is in A&E with OH. He had tummy ache and could not sleep. They cheched him for apendicitus but sending him back home for observation. I am feeling sick with worry - and I told him off for playing up. Silly mother I am.

Claire - lovely to see you back.
MG - glad to see you back home too (both home home and here :rotfl:). Now listen to your Matrix mama's - you've got a lot on your plate, so remember to take time to look after yourself and one step will follow the next.
Firewalker - (((hugs))) to you and ds too. Your not the first Mum to think their kid is acting up and won't be the last. Years ago, my ds complained of a sore tummy, I took know notice and was rewarded with him throwing up in the local shopping centre. Try not to worry, keep an eye on him and respond as needed.
Hugs to all who need or would like one.
Well, yesterday we bought dd's prom dress. I have spent all year being a right grump about the cost of this "imported American tradition" until yesterday when I saw her in her dress - proud Mum moment, my heart just melted - she was absolutely stunning (so she should be at £245 ). Can't wait to go shopping for the shoes and bag now :rotfl:, Thriftyxxx
Eta: forgot to add, that's us eating beans on toast for the next year lol0 -
Firewalker wrote: »Good evening,
I have been meaning to tell you for about a week now, my friends, but somehow it never seemed the right time. Remember sometime ago I mentioned that I was asked whether I would be willing to become an international fellow of Lund University so that colleagues there apply? Well they applied and I got it - so now I am a fellow of Lund University. The fellowship is for three years, it involves giving one seminar per year, and spending about a week in Sweden (hope that Swedish writers just have very developed imagination and Sweden is not full of serial killers, really).
I heard about this fellowship four hours after my dad passed away. We had a pact that he is not going to die before I get a professorship - he could not wait. But hey, Dad, I'll get there.

A belated happy new year to everybody. Just arrived back from holidays and another few days off work so lots of sorting to be done over the next few days.
MG - glad to hear that your mum doesn't have meningitis and I hope that they resolve the mystery soon and that she is improving.
Hope Claire is now sorted with the cable. - Isnt it grand having people miss other people?

GQ xoxIf you have a talent, use it in every which way possible. Don't hoard it. Don't dole it out like a miser. Spend it lavishly like a millionaire intent on going broke.

Bloody hell !!!! Just had a call to say that DS1's school won't be opening on Monday - in fact won't be opening at all!!!!
Looks like I have one day to become an expert in all things homeschooling. Fed up with DS1 being jerked around by those supposed to be looking out for his best interests.
But I have got news that there is a space for DS2 in a local playgroup 4 morning a week. He's too young to be funded - does that mean I can claim some of the cost back through tax-credits????
Off to open a bottle of wine - think I'm gonna need it.
