  • Sorry to hear that the craft sales did not go so well. I think that is why I only make stuff I can use myself, though I did make a card on request recently. Friends who have tried to sell have said that people want to buy for next to nothing and craft materials are quite expensive so it is not always cost effective. Not sure what the answer is.
Going to spend the day with my dad today - we are going out and he is bonkers so looking forward to a fun day. Hope everyone else has a good day too.

Thanks Fantasia, for the crochet information will give it a go
  • Baking and painting week week in preperation for Christmas I think. I knwo there is masses to do on the business but to be honest I need to take a small break and regroup.

So todays "Secret Santa" is an Italian favourite of mine:D

Today I shall be making Cranberry Biscotti to go in the "boxing day hampers" I'm making for our friends and families. These are fabulous with a milky coffee or hot chocolate (I will be packing mocha chocolate).

I've also packed these half a dozen to a mug with a teeny bag of mocha chocolate - wrapped in cellophane with a bow makes a really cheap and cheerful gift for those you want to say a little thank you to.

    PISTACHIO and CRANBERRY BISCOTTI

    125g chopped pistachios
    100g cranberrys
    250g plain flour
    150g caster sugar
    1tsp baking powder
    Pinch of salt
    3 beaten eggs

In a large bowl mix all the ingredients together to form a VERY stiff dough.

Make into two equal log shapes and pat out into flattened patties 30cm X 15cm.

Bake at 180 c for 20 minutes until golden but still quite soft.

Remove from the oven and then cut into 10mm slices and lay them out on a baking sheet. Bake for another 10 minutes until the biscotti are golden and crisp.

Leave to cool and then store in a large glass jar for dipping into whenever you make a cuppa.

    Mmmmmmmmmmmm:D

I think that anyone who makes anything can look at a craft item and know how much work went into it - the others just look at the price of other things (made by people paid peanuts) and think they are being over-charged.

  • Good afternoon Matrix!

I can't believe it is only 12 days until Christmas!! Eeeeek!

Yesterday was DS's 6th birthday so I have spent the last few hours trying to put the house back together as nothing got done yesterday, and after a housefull of people it looks like a bomb has gone off - oh well all worth it as DS had a great day.

School breaks up at luch on friday so i want to be realtively organised by then so i can enjoy the holidays with him. Birthday party for school friends to sort out for on Sunday too - but thats almost organised.

I feel i may need to produce a few TADA lists this week to help keep me on schedule. So far today's looks like this....

Done my cleaning job this morning got in at 11am
Sorted presents into an organized pile
Done all the washing up and put stuff away
    tidied kitchen
    swept hall floor
Sorted out dining table - taken the extension out and cleared from yesterday
    hoovered all lounge

Now i'm having 10 minutes on here before the next lot.

    Sorry for mammoth post :o

    Hello again, Matrix

Arrived home from France around midnight. Sorry, haven't caught up yet, so can't give feedback to anyone.

Hubby's leg is pinned - looks like a huge stake has been drived down the centre of the tibia and secured with two screws. No plaster. Think there's more metal in that than in my hip! Don't know what the airpost scanners will make of it!!!!!!!!

I turned up at the hospital with the required crutches on Friday morning. They discharged him around 3 in the afternoon in a private ambulance (normal in France - only the emergency ambulances are publically run). He arrived at the steps up to the front door on a stretcher and then had to get himself up to the front door. There was no guidance as to how to use the crutches as would be given over here! He was told not to put any weight on that leg but to hop; not as easy with crutches as it sounds. Anyway we have now been in contact with our GP and is he going to get a referral to an orthopaedic consultant here. He has stitches and no advice as to when they need to be removed either and I guess he will need physio when the time is right.

It's easy to criticise the french system, but it works if you know what you have to do but is quite confusing for us as foreigners. We're hoping for a speedy and uneventful recovery now.

Having been so well organised I am way behind with the Christmas preps now so need to be up to speed before the end of the week!!!

Will catch up over the next few days.

Positive vibes and love to everybody and thank you so much for your kind messages.

    Sue
