Claire - not sure what make your BM is but mine is the Morphy Richards Fastbake and liquids go in first.
    The recipe I use is
    460g white bread flour
    300ml tepid water
1 sachet of dried yeast (7g)
    1 tbsp sugar
    1 tsp salt
1 tbsp oil or melted butter

Water goes in first, flour on top, make a wells in the flour for the other ingredients and let it cook on the appropriate setting. HTH.

Thanks MG that was lovely - just been speaking to a friend in Edinburgh - 24" snow on top of her car:eek:

We're about 20 miles away from Edin and had 16 inches of snow.
Brilliant sunshine now though. Winter wonderland,
    * reminds the universe she asked nicely for a thaw;)

    ok what does this mean??

When the machine has finished - tip onto floured board and form into a thick sausage that fits inside a 2lb loaf tin.

Leave to prove until domed over the surface - you want a nice puffy tender bread.

You are right where you should be at this moment. Now it is time to move on to what is next. Whether your life up to this point has been easy or whether it has been difficult, you are here just the same. And your destiny does not care about your past.
There are plenty of reasons why you find yourself here at this time. What matter much more, though, are the reasons you now have for moving forward.
As good as they have been, your triumphs of the past are now little more than pleasant memories. As painful as they once were, your past failures are now behind you.
Do you realize how completely free you are at this very moment? Do you understand that the main thing holding you back is your belief that something is holding you back?
Today is your opportunity to fully taste that freedom and to finally get beyond the limits you've imposed on yourself. Reach inside, touch your most compelling purpose, and bring your best possibilities to life.

24" of snow  Surely that's quite a weight on the car!

My day off has become a list of errands again...just trying to put a positive spin on them all.

I did a TADA too (I think) - I cleaned the fridge :D Got a huge Asda order coming later so it's all clean and ready for it

Good Morning, Matrix. Positive vibes to everyone, and sympathy to everyone north of the border struggling with the snow.

Hugs for Claire. So many people seem to have sad anniversaries around Christmas that make it so much more poignant. It's coming up to the anniversary of my mum's and also my son's passing so I always light a candle for them and for those other family members and friends who are no longer able to join us at Christmas and New year.

On the subject of breadmakers - I was never that successful using my bread maker with 'raw' ingredients but I find bread mixes work well. Not so MSE, of course, but at least we have bread that is a pleasure to eat and is cheaper than a shop bought loaf - rather than ploughing through it so as not to waste it!!!!

Have just made a batch of mince pies for our WI Christmas tea this afternoon. They look a bit 'rustic' but taste fine. I am planning to decorate them with a small edible christmas tree each. Hope it works!!!!
