A bit concerned that MG wasn't around online yesterday. I hope you're alright, hon, and your lovely boys.
Maybe her internet is on the blink again - cue Fantasia - any chance you could text her to see if she's okay?
GQ xox
Was going to but its been done already.
Glad MG and dss's are ok though.
Stay warm and safe everyone.
No more snow here, but freezing fog and black ice and I'm not risking it. Boss was stuck on M8 yesterday for 6 hours, never even made it to Headquarters (army lieutenant colonel).
Please Universe I'm asking for a thaw, for me and everyone else.0 -
Ok can I have an easy foolproof bread recipe for the breakmaker? I have had it a year now and have never managed to get a tidy loaf of bread from itBoiler pot £30.92/£10000

Clare, go easy on yourself today.
Fantasia, hope you didn't mind me contacting MG, just was on here early for a change! I'm with you on asking for that thaw.

Keep warm and safe all X'The road to a friends house is never long'0 -
I just use the recipes in the book that came with the breadmaker.
But I follow the instructions to the letter i.e. I put the yeast in first, then the dry ingreds, then the liquids.
Reminds me that last christmas I bought a book of recipes for breadmakers... toddles off to see if I can find it

Claire my thoughts are with you today. It is is 6 years since I lost my Dad, anniversary on 30th but he was taken into hospital 6 years ago today. Determined man that he was he made sure he was at home for Christmas. I agree take some time out over coffee and remember some of the things you did together (((hugs)))
Bread - make sure that your yeast is not touching any liquid, Norther Las idea of putting the yeast in first is a good one. I tend to put all of the liquid in first then the flour and dry ingredients on top and then the yeast last. Also make sure you are using tepid water not hot or cold water. These tips all passed on to me by OH because my bread never came out now it is perfect every time (just and odd shape)Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, I will try again tomorrow -- Mary Anne Radmacher0 -
Found the book:j, it's called the Breadmaker bible.
Tips (from the book):
1. Some breadmakers you put liquid in first and others like mine you put liquid in last.
2. Really important to measure everything carefully.
3. Keep yeast away from sugar and salt. Add half flour and then sugar and salt and then rest of flour.
4. The temperature and humidity of your kitchen will affect how the bread turns out.
One thought ... could you use the breadmaker on dough setting and then make bread rolls in the oven? You'd then be in control of the baking bit and this might produce a more reliable result.0 -
Ah ha, there is a common problems chapter :j
The bread has not baked in the centre or on top
- the dough was too wet because too much liquid was added. Add less liquid next time and check the dough when mixing, making any adjustments during the kneading cycle
- the quantities for the recipe were too much for your machine and it could not bake the loaf effectively
- The dough was too rich. It may have contained too much fat, sugar or egg0
