Clare - snow tottering won't make your legs feel good sadly! Oh, and I remembered something my mum used to do when we were little to stop the cats climbing the Christmas tree - hang slices of citrus fruit on it (just ordinary oranges will do, smell lovely and look festive too!) Apparently cats don't like it...
((((((((to all you snow-bound people))))))))) Very frustrating
Long day here, sliding about, late trains, etc etc. I could have done with a bit of matrix positivity earlier but didn't have time to log in at work! Had to ring someone about our work Christmas do - apparently 'send us your set menu choices - here's the set menu' means 'you all have to eat the same thing for Christmas dinner' - not to me it doesn't! Boss was a little peculiar today too, and our project is getting rather behind schedule(not our fault!). Only two weeks before holidays, PhD to finish, work is so busy, and everything's getting a little overwhelming today! Still, I'm home now and have a cuppa
Also reported a bus conductor for telling someone they couldn't board the bus carrying an (empty!) coffee cup - and then telling them they had to leave it on the seat in the bus stop  Felt better once I'd sent emails to both the bus company and the city council telling them I didn't think it was appropriate for their staff to encourage littering:rotfl:

Well our weather was wild today again. Grand this morning so i had brekkie and a cuppa then popped in the shower. Came out and it was a full blown blizzard (How long was I in there?!) so I slid along to the shop but I let all my out of towners go at 2pm so they could get home. One text me to say she'd got in at 7.15!!!! I stayed with a few other girls who walk to work til 4pm then we shut. Other shops in town had shut too as staff had to start trying for home so I skidded into Primark to get some wrapping paper and came home and wrapped all but 2 of my pressies. Job done! Have relaxed tonight with a bath and some wine and am off to put my list on my diary now for tomorrow. I should be off but if the roads are still bad i may have to go in for a bit.'The road to a friends house is never long'0

Good evening Ladies of the Matrix,
I have an announcement to make. I just completely unexpectedly finished all my Christmas shopping. How come you may ask given that I had bought only one thing till this morning? Oh well, two actually...Here comes the story.
Before last night I had bought only two presents - one for Little Boy and one for OH. I have this arrangement with friends that we don't buy for each other and I have been advocating for a long time to stop buying for the friendship group children (these are the children we raised together from babies) because they get too much as it is. But there are two more sons. Last night, just before I drifted off to sleep I had a great idea which saves sons buying loads of presents as well.
We could get a football table and this will be a family present - grown up sons can contribute to buying the table. We will all have a great present and none of us will spend loads. So table is ordered from John Lewis and Mario for Wii was ordered from Amazon.
Christmas shopping finished painlessly. I feel very proud of myself and hope I am not a kill joy...

Getting a bit fed up with the weather now so come on for a rant. We had light snow showers forecast for today but it snowed heavily non-stop for 8 hours . Very difficult to get around still and I've not been able to work for over a week as there are no trains stopping here and no replacement bus service [I don't drive]. The regular buses are very erratic and apparently took 3 hours this morning instead of 1 hour. I won't get paid for most of the cancelled work and just looked on the website to see that the school I work in on a Tuesday is closed tomorrow.
On the plus side I have made 2 lots of hob nobs and more will be required tomorrow I think - am planning to drizzle some with melted chocolate and maybe put in chopped cherries yum. Have also done quite a bit of sorting out of huge mounds of paper so that feels quite good though there's lots more to do. Reminds me that theres piles of paper on the bed so better go and move that.
Sorry for the moan but feel better nowkeep warm everyone xx

For all you mindmappers out there, you can currently get some good deals on the fineliner pens which are particularly good for detailed mindmaps.
I bought 10 own brand ones in a high street newsagent for £5.99 only to come home to find Amazon selling 10 Staedler was faaaaaaaaaaaar cheaper that than the £9.99 I had seen advertised in the shop. Eqally, the 20 pack is amazing value. http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_i_0_20?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=staedtler+fineliners&sprefix=staedtler+fineliners

Hi all
Hope you are all well and not suffering too much from the cold. The weather seems to have knocked our telephone/internet connection out for a week. Very annoying as it meant I couldn't work from home when given the option.
I expect it will take me about a week now to catch up with what you've all been doing.0 -
