Hi, this is the Daily Thread for today. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well

Morning.

Greetings. I have not posted here for some time. General apathy, but thought I would drop in this morning..
Hope everyone is well. Can't say that I have been good as far as money saving goes, although I did make some stonking sweet pepper relish from the crop I grew in the polytunnel.

But there is also spend spend.... I had to get anew TV, because I wanted one... Now that I have it, the DVD player shows itself for what it truly was, and I need more.... New tyres for the car... etc.... Hmmmm.

looks like the rains have finished here for a while, no floods in our house, but it's pretty boggy out there all the same....

Well off to work.... cheers
NO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!

Lovely lie in this morning, I've only just got up.
Hubby bought me a lovely bunch of roses yesterday & then we had a lovely meal at the Carvery, much as I like kids I'm was beginning to wish they would divide the place into Children & no children areas. I had a boy & his mum on one side playing a game on their phones with all the associated noise & on the other side a family group with a very spoilt little girl who screeched & screeched unless she had everyones attention. Grumpy cow aren't I, but I could take my children to eat out & they were always well behaved & my grandchildren are also well behaved. Now I expect a lot of noise, chatter & laughter from children, but the constant 'I want & look at MEEEEE, in ever rising volume & octaves was very irritating.
Plans for today include prepping food for 11 guest plus me & the Minder & some housework, also some knitting in the evening, I'm still on the green scarf as I didn't get any knitting done as hubby & I celebrated in our usual fashion after our meal, we did wait till we got home as we didn't want to get arrested!
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

Morning all. Was a real struggle to drag myself out of bed today, I've not been sleeping great and then today I was just sooo comfy I could have gone back to sleep for hours! But I have to work, and I can sleep tomorrow instead.
Big warm breakfast, rubber chicken soup for lunch at work, very yummy :) I think I'm going to nandos tonight, I'm pretty skint and my free 1/2 chicken voucher just ran out but I really need to get out... so I shall have to walk the 2 miles to and from work today/monday to save on bus fare to make up for it :(

    morning all

up for ages as can`t sleep. I think it is too much going over and over in my head about the wedding:o. Am on the search for a floor length veil at the last minute;)
Need to download the music and put it on CDs.
Taking DS to museum today and then hopefully making a cake later....not had a chance for ages.
OH making HM pizzas for tea and I need to put some braising steak in SC overnight ready for a pie for tomorrow.
No washing or ironing to do as got up to date yesterday:D:T.

JC :rotfl:at world Toilet Day...DS was looking at toilets on youtube again yesterday. well done to your DS for his IQ score:T My DS was given an adjusted IQ test a while ago and his was 167 which was in genius levels. i think that is partly why he has so many probs accepting the Autism and tourettes etc. Very intelligent but he is unable to function in a mainstream manner bless him.
Hester am saying nowt........just don`t start making innocent excuses for your bruised knees this time:cool::p

off to haul OH out of bed for work

will leave you with this......this is what DS is watching on Youtube all the time, having a flap and driving us nuts

N9eav - spooky I was going to post today asking if anyone had 'seen' you as you had been away for awhile!

Bit grey and damp here but looks to be clearing. Feeling lot better than yesterday but still sniffy :( and I now have TOTM pains!!

I'm off to Cardiff today (again!). It's my best friend's birthday on Monday and she wants to go shopping there today. So we going to the city centre for few hours, lunch somewhere and then to Ikea. I told one of my colleagues this and he has text me with an order for 20 of Ikea's lightbulbs for his house :rotfl:

I won't be back til tea time so dinner will probably be freezer surprise. I fancy a chilli to try and get rid of my cold for good but don't think there is any in there. I need to sort through the freezer today/tomorrow too. I go away on Thursday for a week so don't really want to buy any fresh stuff before then so need to see what is there for me to eat.

    Have a good day all

  • Good Morning Chums ,
a bit driech today to say the least .Dark, damp and not very inviting at the moment outside. But I'm feeling bright as a button (guess who had a good nights sleep for a change)I went off to bed for a read early last night as there is only so much CIN that I can take I am all for raising cash but hours and hours of banal 'celebs' on t.v. does my head in.
I tried watching 'I'm a Celebrity' and that was even more dire .Most of the 'celebs' I hadn't heard of and Gillian thingy with her continual screeching made me give up and opt for a read of my book in bed instead.Far more relaxing.:D
Eldest DD dropped around with her Dyson as she has bought a new Hoover and said did I want it for upstairs,of course I said yes please ,as although my one is a light weight one I can't carry it up when ever I want to vacuum. So now I have one upstairs and one down ,so no exscuse not to run the vacuum around;)
This morning I have a Uni class until 12.00 then its home for me and I am going to make some leek & potato soup as I have some leeks that need using up.I have got a wrap for lunch with salad, and pork chops for dinner tonight with mash, carrots and white cabbage.
I must make a start on wrapping some pressies as well I just realised its 5 weeks today until Christmas .I may probably write some cards out as well.I make all my own so apart from getting some more stamps they are all taken care of.Next week I must have a trip to Bluewater to buy my DD her 'Grumpy but gorgeous' slippers at La Senza that she likes for her birthday,(I get a 10% with my student card. I have both my DDs birthdays in Decembe,r plus a grandson and my DDs FiL, and a wedding anniversery as well.Very expensive month on top of Christmas presents as well.Still once Chrismas is over I will get a break until February when it all starts again Next year I have two DGDs 18ths my DGS 21st his girlfriends 21st my Brothers 70th plus DDs FiLs 80th and her BiLs 50th so lots of 'big ' birthdays to sort out.
Right, I'm going to have a nice plate of porridge to keep me warm and alert this morning,Time to get the coffee perking I think
Have a good day whatever you are doing and keep wrapped up and warm

morning! not long got back from my sleep-in at work, luckily it was a quiet night. Off now till Monday:j

DS2 made it safely to London - just got to negotiate the journey home later now.
DS1 did his radio show live as a roadshow yesterday in our town as it was the Christmas lights turn on, shame I was at work and missed him - we did manage to listen a bit at work though.

All this talk of Christmas and I havent bought a thing yet:eek: we're off to Telford next weekend - a big pigeon show:D plus Christmas shopping and we're stopping over for a night in an hotel so I hope to get a lot then plus I'm off for a day trip to the Clarkes shopping village in Street as well(I love it there)so can get the rest then.
We aren't buying much this year - buying for our 2 boys and their other halves and also my Mum (and each other of course) and Taplords Dad and thats it.

Plans for today are to catch up on laundry, change bedding and have a quiet day at home - walk the dogs later then an evening in front of the telly with an easy tea.

NPM - I think those traffic lights would drive me nuts after a very short time!:D but I can see why Noah likes it - very repetetive with an easy to sing song:D

have a great weekend all x
    Do what you love :happyhear
  • taplady well done to DS1:T what a shame you missed him do the switch on show....bloomin work:cool:
