i was only thinking similar. my uncles wife is due xmas day. she is only 26, so i wanted to get her a little something , if baby doesn't arrive on or before xmas day. i was thinking along the lines of a pampuring pressie. It is there first child, they have everything they need and want, so i was thinking a treat for her would be ideal. having said that. my uncle works very hard, and never rest's. he is a very thoughtful and caring guy. so i might get them a joint combo.0

What about jewellery? Earrings or a necklace- something just for her as your daughter rather than as a mum to be?Don't suffer alone - if you are experiencing Domestic Abuse contact the National Domestic Abuse Helplines

A new camera to take photos of the baby? Plus lessons on how to use it? I've been on going digital courses before, and they are fab.

I would be peeved if people bought me bits to do with the baby / to use on baby... its my birthday !
I am heavily preggers at the mo and the reflexology i am having is a lifesaver, really relaxing and it feels like a nice treat !
a maternity photography session would be nice, just be careful cos it doesnt appeal to everyone.
the other thing that is great is a cleaner ! time it for the last few weeks of pregancy and the first few of the new arrival, i love not having the pressure of worrying if my bathrooms are clean when peeps come round - its bliss !0 -

I agree - my OH suggested that he would tell people get me Mothercare vouchers for Christmas if they asked him what I'd like (his family etc). I told him he would do no such thing!
I think it is a present for you and so it should be something for you, not the baby. It is easy to start feeling like you are just a baby making machine towards the end of pregnancy anyway without people buying things for your birthday or christmas present which are actually not for you but for the baby.
A few people have mentioned Reflexology and I would agree with them too. I've been having sessions before and during my pregnancy and they are so relaxing and can actually help prepare your body for labour too.
Some salons do mum to be packages which aren't quite as full on as a spa day and are just aimed to make you feel pampered and nice before the birth.
I think it's really nice you are making the effort to think of something special for your daughter - am sure she will really appreciate it when she gets her present

Wow, some really good ideas there. I've seen a lovely necklace today in town she might like too. Thanks for all the suggestions0

Congratulations on becoming a grandma!
When we had our first, we had no idea what to expect, but my husband kept asking his parents what they did at that stage, what would they do now, how old was he when he did things, etc. Their answer always was that they couldn't remember, so maybe write things about her down or hand over her baby book if you did one for her when she was born (and ask inlaws to do the same for the dad?).
With my first baby the whole family link became so much more clear to me, so a family tree maybe? Like a drawing or photos to put on the wall or a written version of who's who, funny stories etc. It's great to talk about things like that to a baby on your arm.
Or buy her a good quality sling, if she might want to carry the baby (or she gets a clingy baby that won't be put down, like my first): they are expensive and can be difficult to learn how to use, so if she can try it out now, she might be more inclined to use it when the baby is born (sleep deprivation and learning new skills do not sit well together). The woven ones can be used as a hammock later on and be used as a toy to build dens with etc when the kid gets older.
My daughter did actually buy me a book a while ago called "From you to Me" which had pages with headings such as What Was my First Word...etc.,...it's a lovely idea and I'll give it to her as soon as I've finished it.0 -

best thing I can think of would be a pedicure - so that at least part of her can be gorgeous - and she's probably forgotten what her feet look like - I know I did!!! Then a nice outfit for after the baby has been born and she doesn't want to wear her pregnancy clothes ever again. I know I wanted to burn mine!!! Failing that - home made vouchers for babysitting, cooking, cleaning and perhaps a day in town / shopping or the like. xMe, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx
March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.0 -
I would suggest a towel cake - here is a pic of one i have done

put all of her favourites in - fav chocolate (craving); fav deodrant; candles; bath salts; creams; tablets for when baby is born!!!
you could always put the vouchers in this and a necklace etc
hth a little katieI have 2 gorgeous kids
