  • Hi Everyone, thanks for the good wishes.

We had a meeting about the job situation and are now in our 13 week consultation period BUT they won't know which offices and jobs are going until the end of Jan and the consultation finishes the beginning of March so our 13 weeks is more like 4!!! Plus they are trying to sneak in a change of contract with much reduced benefits. Really not good.

Good news is Ebay sales are now over £150 which has nearly covered the lost overtime when DD was ill.:T

Going on the postponed Xmas shopping trip to the local Retail Village with my friend tomorrow, just us girlies no Kids or Hubbies:j:j

SNOWDONLILY - I love my slow cooker, it was a recent purchase from Argos, only £20 for a 6.5l one, it is huge!! I chuck everything in in the morning on low and it's cooked beautifully by dinner time. Whole chickens and joints of meat fit in easily and are yummy.

Off to catch up on eveyone's diaries now, been MIA for a few days.

  • Hi Everyone

Already typed this once and lost it so gonna try again:mad:

Finished Ebaying now and packed everything that didn't sale away in the loft, sold 39 items and made a respectable £200:j. DS, aged 11, has caught he bug and sold some old PSP games and made himself abut £55, deffo his mother's son!!:rotfl::rotfl:Kept most of the money in Paypal and have been using it to buy Xmas pressies online (through cashback sites and Ebay). Managed to get hubby 3 pressies he will love for £35, we have set a £50 limit this year to stop him going mad. He bought me a DS last year which I promptly made him return, when did he think I would have time to play games on that!!!:rotfl::rotfl:

Been really frugal with the food shopping for 2 reasons
    1. Got no spare money
    2. Got 2 bulging freezers andneed space for Xmas food.
Went to Morrisons tonight and for £16 got 1.6kg of whoopsied mince, loads of whoopsied fruit and veg and loads of basics we had run out of. The kids were well impressed with our bulging trolley for so little money and they even had some smoothie as a treat. :D Some of the mince and veg in sc with lentils and oats to bulk, that's tomorrow's tea, cottage pie. Tonights tea was liver and bacon from the freezer (originally made with whoopsied liver AND bacon) and value smash cos I was short of time. We had plum and apple crumble for pudding, all of which was homegrown and from the freezer, that has made a bit of space. Need room for the sausage rolls and profiteroles I plan to make this weekend.

    Hope you are all well

  • Wow sounds like you got some bargains, i'm planning on a baking this weekend, need to get mince pies, sticky toffee pud and other yummy things made for xmas.
  • Hi All

At work tonight, trying to pick up some extra shifts, very frustrating though as no matter how much I seem to work I don't seem to get any farther forward. :wall: Dishwasher has gone wrong now which, with 5 of us in the family and frequent 'extra' bodies and me working shifts, is a minor disaster. Our local repair guy has tried to do a cheap fix but no good so it looks like a new control panel which sounds pricey!!!

Good news is that the Xmas presents are well and truely finished, think DS1 is a bit short so will just make his up with some cash (always very welcome:rotfl:). Have managed to get some real bargains and used my Paypal money for a lot of it so didn't seem too painful and NONE of it is on credit:j Just got to wrap it all now.

BLUEJEANS - how is that ebaying going?
£WISE - Mmmmmm, sticky toffee puds - lovely, I have never made them, are they easy?

Off to do some 'real' work now,
    Night all

  • STP is easy, i will hunt the recipe out later and post it for you.
  • OMG, I am beginning to wonder why I bother, been in tears since I got home from work.

OH has crashed the car in the snow today, he is ok but it means another huge bill. I am working everyday and every night this week and next week to try and get a little ahead and now this. Seems like everything is going against us at the moment. Feel like I can't cope.

Had a huge row with OH last night and stayed up til 3am doing housework cos no-one else thinks to do anything whilst I'm at work. The house is a !!!! pit. No-one thinks to do the washing up, they just pile it on the side, this was bad enough when the dishwasher was working but now it's not I find it insulting. It's like they don't care thatI am working myself to the bone they just keep expecting me to do more and more. I rush in from 1 job, organise after school activities and dinner and then rush out to my next job. Told OH that next year he can try and organise Xmas with NO money and NO help and see how he gets on, will probably result in NO Xmas.

Sorry to rant and rave but I just needed to share. I am trying so hard to dig us out of this pit and it's like no-one gives a monkeys. I am beginning to think I would be better off alone and have a fresh start far away. If my job goes in this restructuring I might just do that, I really am at my wits end.

Thank you for bearing with me

    Hi there

You are having a very tough time. So much happening at once. The cold weather doesn't help. You do work very hard and you deserve to get cross when others don't help out when they should. I seem to spend my life sometimes making other people do what they should do! Especially 20 year old who needs a bomb put under him to make him move. Home from uni and thinks he doesn't need to do anything as he is studying in his room for exams in January!!!!!! LMAO .... prob playing football manager or facebook!!!!

Will you get a few days off over Christmas .. if you do find a quiet space if possible and sit down for a while. Believe me the dishes can wait.

You have done well at your ebaying do you have much left to sell.

I hope your job works out ok for you .. it is a while to wait until you find out and I am sure it is a very stressful time for you.

    Will be thinking about you.

    God bless and Happy Christmas

  • Sending big hug :grouphug::grouphug::grouphug:.

The stress of trying to get sorted for Christmas, sorting bills and the weather is no help.

Hang in there another week. Could you maybe call a "Family Meeting" in the New year and state how you feel and that your not going to do at all alone anymore. Just a thought.

    :)

  • *Clicks fingers* and I'm back in the room:rotfl:

Sorry I have been away for so long, have had a rocky start to the year and have been a bit disheartened but I am back now and full of fighting spirit!

Started off the year with a very large excess bill for car #1, dishwasher went wrong and cost £180 to fix, brake discs and pads needed for car#2 (my fault as I kept putting off dealing with the grinding sound my car was making - kept saying 'next month'!) and our baoiler packed up!! I got very down and thought what's the point.

However, have well and truely got DH on-board now - he is amazed how I have dealt with the pressure of the money worries for so long now that he has finally got his head out of his a**e! He has been offered additional hours by his boss, working from home, this means he will be on-call all week but he will be netting an additional £100 per week which we have earmarked for debt busting. His cc first £850, then my cc2.

We need to get in a better financial position asap incase my job goes in the next round of cuts, I should be ok this time round (will know for sure end of Feb) but we are going to have to face cuts for the next 2 years at least.

I am still doing all my OS things, buying whoopsies, padding out mince, cooking in the slow cooker and trying to keep fuel bills down. Doing all meals from scratch and to a meal plan. Lots of baking at weekends means that weekdays are easier, particularly when I have to got straight from one job to the next.

I have done a lot of birthday/xmas shopping in the sales, Boots had some great deals. All sorted for wrapping paper and cards. I have bought DD Clarks shoes and trainers in the next 2 sizes for less that £10 a pair and got a few items of clothing for her and DS2 in the Next sale for next winter.

Still on my decluttering binge, took 3 bags of stuff to charity skip the other day. Have sorted my many pairs of heels into clear shoe boxes so I can see at a glance what I actually have (didn't realise how many pairs of black shoes I had!). Gonna have a go at kids rooms this weekend and see what clothes they have outgrown and I can Ebay (mostly Next which I will start at 99p and should sell well).

Sorry for such a long post but wanted to bring diary up-to-date with what has been going on.

    Take care all
