Just take it one day at a time, it seems more managable then, tooooooo scary looking at the bigger picture i always end up overwhelmed and scared.
Better go and retrieve my kids from school.0 -
Hi 321
Crikey you seem to be so organised wish i was !
Everything xmasy will be left to the last min as per usual, but you've just reminded me i'm sure i've got some xmas cards somewhere:o.
Not too sure what my 2 boys want this year but will probably be xbox games or some such hideously(sp)expensive item:eek:but they have been warned this year that things are tight and i am def sticking to a budget (having said that not too sure at the mo where i am going to find a budget lol!).
My older DD suggested we did a secret santa between her, myself,my mum and my OH with a 20.00 budget so that should be good.
Hope your little one is feeling better

That's a brilliant saving - just goes to show that making some small changes does make a bug difference. You are spurring me on and making me think that I need to list a few things on ebay to get the ball rolling, so I aim to list 5 things tomorrow and 5 on Sunday
Thanks for the inspirtation & enjoy your dinner!!! :beer:I myself am made entirely of flaws, stitched together with good intentions...0 -
Hi Mom23
Secret Santa sounds like a great idea, it can be so hard to thinks of presents for adults so that would take the pressure off and ease the financial strain.
DD feeling better today, could maybe have coped with school today but has barely eaten all week and done nothing but lie on the couch so if I had sent her I would probably have gotten 'the phone call' mid-day. I had to cancel my course for yesterday and today anyway so thought she might as well have the whole week off and go back fully fit and well on Monday.
I know what you mean about xbox games and the like, they are so expensive and yet look nothing, DS1 and DS2 are into their gaming and their piles of pressies always look pitiful compared to their little sister who is still into bulky toys. Luckily they are old enough to understand the value of the things they want and this year have both chosen 'large items' as their main gift. Just stocking fillers to do now (DD still believes in Santa so there needs to be a stocking each - thank god for Poundland)
Good luck finding the xmas cards and the budget!!

Hi All
Had a great night last night, worked at my second job but it was a special evening and a great atmosphere and music. Some nice tips and extra money in my purse - all good. Even better OH had done all the ironing by the time I got home!:j:j
Needed to pull in some extra from somewhere as have planned a Xmas shopping trip:xmastree: on Thursday with a friend - we are off to our nearest outlet village which is about 40 miles away. Don't intend to go mad but do need some more pressies and there are usually some good bargains to be had. NOTE TO SELF: Should really make a list before we go so I know who I still need to buy for.:D
A nice big Gammon joint with apple juice in the sc, that's dinner tonight and pea and ham soup for tomorrow. Never cooker one before so fingers crossed it will be ok. The whole chicken I cooked in the sc the other day with tarragon was lurvely:drool:.
Off to tackle the kids bedroom now and then ebaying this afternoon.
Have a great weekend everyone:beer:

Great result on DH doing the ironing! :j
The outlet shopping trip sounds good, but you really should do a list so you stay focused on what you need to get.
The gammon cooked in apple juice sounds great too - I saw some slow cookers in Tesco last week for £10 - I think it would be a good buy, as I hate coming in from work and having to start tea - I have about £3 of texco vouchers too - to little to exchange or double up - so might use them for thatEmergency Savings Fund - £11002015 Mortgage overpayments = £0 -
:j Fab on the extra work and tips :T
I really must do the ebaying.....I buy but don't sell. Worried it all goes wrong and I mess it all up , and get a black mark.
Enjoy your shopping trip.......you will be fabulously thrifty, with your spending :money:. Have you done your list yet ?
Gammon joint and apple sauce and then pea and ham soup, fab idea to use up left overs :TDo I need this or just want it.
If you always do what you always do...You will get what you always get.
