I don't 'do' tears. I even cried at toy story 3. I am definatly cracking up. well butter patties are made, gingerbread men, stars, christmas trees and snowmen. my hubby thinks I am nuts and should be commited to an insane asylum. Crystal has been washed and is waiting on the side, porcelin plates washed and dried also waiting and the canteen of cutlery is out and polished. OH is just like !!!!!! is going on. Noticing the differenced in our upbringings more and more as the kids grow up. OH never left anything out for santa, am i the only one who thinks thats weird?? I always left milk, biscuits and a carrot. OH left nowt so milk biscuits and a carrot or 4 is on the list. DD1 informs me santa has 9 reindeer and its not fair to hae them all share 1 carrot.

those of yuo with kids how do you work out what traditions to carry on with?

My kids have a choc advent calendar and have in their Christmas stocking every year:
shower gel/bubble bath, new toothbrush, choc coins, orange, socks, choc orange, sugar mice. These things are non-negotiable.

BTW my kids are 25 and 23 :rotfl:

I never left anything out either as a kid but my kids do.
I am worried about next year, i dont think they will believe next year and so a bit of the magic will be gone. I was thinking today that next year I might try and teach them the value of money and give them a £100 budget and see what they could ask for with that. About 5 presents at a guess lol, that should shock them! Nasty mummy :o

As for traditions, I ask my kids what they want to do, they usually want to leave a carrot out with a mince pie and milk. My DS says that Santa cant really eat all the mince pies left out and I say that he only takes a bite out of it as he is very busy. I remember one year they came back with reindeer food that had glitter in and we put it on the wall outside and I forgot to get rid of it and it was still there in the morning. I just had to say that they had a little bit but they must have been full and they cant eat too much or they wont be able to fly.
How do we make these little white lies up on the spot!!

As for tears Im not even preggers and I cry at daft films. My DD thinks its funny!

You are doing great and hope that you do not overdo things tomorrow. DD also made reindeer dust which we will need to spread out in the garden later.

We have started to give DD a xmas parcel from us new pyjamas and a xmas dvd, which we will watch before bedtime.

The usual stuff in the stocking is new toothbrush, chocolate coins this year (was jelly babies last year), character pants & vest, bubble bath, book plus other stuff.

DD wants to leave a carrot, milk, cup of tea and cake for santa and reindeers. At the moment is she pretending she is santa on his sleigh delivering all the presents - some imagination they have.

Lynn - track him via NORAD.. we are tracking santa. I always read the night before christmas to the kids, my grandad used to do it then my dad and now I do it, I started when DD1 was 13 weeks old and now have done each year.
