So can I just clarify,

I am currently paying off my account, and I have some things on BNPL. If I pay the whole balance before the BNPL ends (September 2011), will I get a charge on my account for the interest?

I am confused, it seems Very are hoping that this is the case so they can get more money from their customers.

Hi,

You will not be charged any interest for your goods on BNPL providing they are paid in full before September 2011.

When you do make payments towards BNPL items you need to let us know so we can allocate payments towards these items, otherwise the payment will be spread over other items on your normal account.

For example, you make £100 payment, you want £50 to come off your current account and £50 to come off your BNPL items. You can make this payment in one go for the full £100 but you will need to let us know £50 is for BNPL items so we can move that part of the payment towards BNPL items, otherwise the £100 will be spread across all items on your current account. You can contact us by email or telephone and any customer service advisor can do this for you.

Hope this helps

I endorse the warning about very.co.uk - I tried to order but couldn't, as their website was not working properly, so i sent them a message via their website and they replied by e-mail saying I should phone their 0844 phone number. I replied saying I would not use their premium rate phone number to discover why their website was not working properly! See the original post about how they keep you on the line to make money from such calls. My suspicions were immediately aroused. I am glad I never placed the order.

Plenty of free numbers to call

First of all, we're glad your issues regarding 3for2 items have been resolved, however, without any account details I can only assume what has happened on your account regarding your BNPL item.

In regards to your comment about making excuses, I can assure you I am only explaining company procedure, as a lot of other posts have mentioned previously on this thread. They have mentioned about statements advising to make payments towards BNPL items and letting us know so we can allocate these payments before they are charged. This is still current practise and I am posting on here to help and give true information to our customers.

If your payment has been automatically allocated without you asking for it to be done this will be the first case I personally have come across in the past 2 - 3 years since this scheme has been running. Maybe a previous advisor you have spoken to has seen a credit balance and allocated it for you realising you only have goods on BNPL. Without your account info I can only assume how this has happened.

I am not disputing what you are saying, however it would be helpful if you can email your details into us at Network@VeryHQ.co.uk so we can check how this has happened. As I mentioned above, I have been on this department since it started and have never known of a payment to automatically be allocated without it being requested first.

Hope this helps

I dont need to send my details. My husband also has an account with you, & his payments have been allocated in the same way as mine.

I have joined this discussion a bit late, and I am glad I found it as now I am confused about how this Buy Now Pay Later works.

I have accounts with Very.co.uk and also Littlewoods.com. They seem to operate more or less the same way.

I am not on here to slag them as I actually like shopping with them. To me it's all the same designer stuff you get at House of Fraser but on better payment terms and more often that not cheaper.

BUT....

I have bought goods from Very on BNPL. Now I was sent a voucher for £20 off your next order. When the statement came, I was charged for my purchases and it said "items you don't need to pay for now" with the total of £102. It also showed the credit of £20 which made my account £20 in credit. Then when the next statement came it showed "adjustments to your account - £20 credit applied to reduce the outstanding buy now pay later balance(s)

So my BNPL balance went from £102 to £82 and my main account went from being £20 in credit to ZERO.

So going by what previous posters have said, I don't understand why their credit balance was not used like mines was to reduce the BNPL balance.

Hopefully the representative can explain and that way we will know exactly how the credit account works.

Hi Chris,

You are correct in saying that we should not be charged interest on our BNPL purchases if we phone up to make payment in full before the payment due date and tell the advisor that our payment is to be allocated to our BNPL purchases. However, this is not happening at Very.co.uk offices and interest is being charged. I paid in full before the payment due date yet I was still charged interest. You then charged me a late payment fee on the interest amount which I did not have to pay. I phoned up three times and all three advisors could see that I had paid in full for my BNPL items, I had paid on time and I had no other purchases outstanding on my account. Yet, the interest amount had not been taken off my file because the department responsible was very busy and was experiencing a backlog. What sort of excuse is this? Hire some temps if you are short staffed. This was going back to October before the bad weather arrived so god knows how short staffed this department is now. To me, this sounded like an excuse for Very.co.uk to hold on to my money with the hope that I would give up and just pay the interest amount even though I did not have to.

Luckily after threatening to go to the Financial Ombudsman, which every customer is entitled to do, should their query with Very.co.uk not be handled to their satisfaction; the advisor gave me the direct line of the department dealing with the interest refunds. I'm hoping that my account is now back to £0 and when it is, I shall be closing my account. I used to be a happy customer but after all the hassle after purchasing some items on BNPL, it just is not worth shopping with Very.co.uk anymore.
• Had problems myself with VERYs bnpl deals, paid my account in full in plenty of time to avoid charges. Payment came off the right account no problem, But then was charged over £53 in intrest

Phoned up and spoke to a nice chap, who identifed that intrest should not have been out on account. He identified he would complete the "form" and the amount would be wiped off my account which it duly was. With absolutly no communication from VERY or an appology for their error. I will never order from VERY again
