Hi
I am a single mum on IS too, it isn't a crime, you need to be there for your kids. Hold your head up high, it sounds like you are doing the best you can.
Definately get a maintenance plan in place, I have no experience of CSA but it is good that for the time being the DWP don't offset the maintenance against the Income Support. They did until recently, it was criminal.
Also, I have fallen into the trap of "competing" with my ex to give our son more or doing more fancy things, which was ridiculous as I buy all the school stuff/clothes/most food etc. And on top of that was trying to do the WOW stuff too. I've come to terms that my DS may well find me the boring parent, but that is because I am the consistent one. Hopefully in years to come he will see that.
Anyway, I haven't got any advice, just came on to give you a bit of moral support. It is a really hard time of year to break up with someone but your mum sounds like a great support.
Take care

Re the dog microchip, one of my dogs was a stray (long story) but I had him via his breeder, he was chipped and the old owner had the paperwork, He was chipped and registered with petlog, all i had to do was take him to the vet, get them to scan him, they rung the breeder who backed up my story about how i got the dog, and they issued paperwork in my name
And, if it helps, microchip isnt proof of ownership so that wont be a problem for you (Microchip is only good if your dog strays and gets handed in/scanned).... all my guys are chipped but i had an old dog stolen over 7 years ago, never to be seen again (he is still registered to me incase he should be picked up), if you need any more info on that just shout0 -
morning and thanks for your replies and good advice
i will be contacting ex today to see if we can go into the vets together and change names etc, if he doesnt agree i will go in on my own and explain the situation to see what can be done but luckily as my mum was the breeder she is always nearby if they need to speak to her so feeling positive about getting this sorted now.
hoping for a lsd today as i dont think i need to get anything, went to local shops last night and got a few items of clothes for the boys for xmas i think im only going to get them a few items each and then get some board games for them to both open and share so hopefully that will keep them occupied in the dark and cold evenings after xmas.
i also need to get a small xmas tree that can sit on mu unit as my pup is 8 months old so i dont want to risk him pulling it over or eating the lights!! will have a look on freecycle in a bit to see if anyone is getting rid of old crimbo decs so fingers crossed on that one!!Total debt- 2982.00 Now- £2890.000 -
well my nsd didnt yurn out a nsd!!!
not to worried though as i spent the money on xmas pressies, managed to get ds1 a "6 in 1" game and ds2 a mickey mouse floor puzzle both were reduced so happy about that!!
also bought some nice christmas ornaments from the 99p store so again pleased i got a few bargainsi thought the house wouldnt look so empty without a large xmas tree if i put some nice ornaments and candles etc up instead.
need to pick boys up from after school sports club then we have swimming lessons tonight so will be a late dinner tonight!!Total debt- 2982.00 Now- £2890.000 -
Hi Fizzypops
I've just read your diary and you're doing brilliantly. Good luck with your course that should open a few doors for you and allow you to hopefully work around your children as well if you choose to go down the self employed route.
Keep posting, I'm looking forward to hearing how well you are doing.0 -
thanks for your reply mum2one - i think im trying to be strong for my kids, my mum keeps telling me i need to talk to people about how i feel but im afraid if i do i will just breakdown if that makes sense.
im not going to spend a lot at xmas as i cant afford it and i know the kids would rather have a happy mummy at xmas rather then a mummy who is worrying and stressed because i have more debt to clear.
This is so true.
What a fantastic attitude to have
need to do some cleaning at home then my mum has invited me round hers for lunch so that will be nice (i think she wants to make sure im eating properly!!!)
will probably only be able to pay £1 on my debts today as i joined the pad thread and dont want to give up on the 2nd day!!every little helps i suppose. have to buy some bread and milk today oh and a pressie for ds1 friends party on sat but that shouldnt cost to much so hoping for a low spend day if possible.
better get on with the cleaning otherwise ill never make it to lunch!!!
Even if your pad is only a 1p then thats great.
Try charity shop for pressies/ebay.
