Hi, this is the Daily Thread for xx (add date). This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Please merge if duplicated ;)

Morning Your lovely bunch :D

    Morning bargainbird & everyone else

Keep meaning to pop in more often, but life keeps getting in the way & am also too bogged down in money worries (like everyone else, I suppose!). :)
Still dark here, but not too cold & at least it's not raining. Kids still asleep  so have been up since 6, finishing last night's washing up - didn't do it cos I'd been to my night class & had an exam, so just zonked in front of tv instead of working! :o:D
Today I need to bake something for biscuits/nibbles etc, measure up for new bed for DS(18) & see if we can scrape together enough cash for it.
Tea not christened yet, probably whatever's in the freezer or some HM soup.
Have a nice morning & will try to pop back later, hugs & kisses all round.

    A xo

    Morning peeps

doesn`t sound nice outside at all  very windy and very cold, will keep well wrapped up today.

I woke at 520 so i am actually getting better :D maybe i shall manage untill 6am tomorrow, mind you i feel wide awake so i shouldn`t complain.
The washing is already hung up and i`ve emptied the dishwasher i need to make bread rolls for soup next.

I never got the chutney started off last night or the wine filtered so that will be 2 more jobs for my list today, i made a huge list last night so that i won`t forget anything else and remember too late to do anything about it :D

I can hear DH stirring upstairs and the younger hound grumbling at him :D little black cat is outside in the horrible weather, i`d better not leave her very long lol, she will be sat underneath the garden table waiting for me to let her back in. Little oldie is fast asleep on his bed but will soon wake up when he hears the food bowls rattling :D

Dazi - Don`t know what to say, glad that you arrived home safe and well. ((((HUGS)))) for you and your Mum.

Jackie - Hope that everything gets sorted out today for you, good luck!

I`m off to make another cuppa - just listening to the wind outside makes me feel cold IYKWIM.

    Have a lovely day everyone.

Chilly here today, but at least hubby didn't have to scrape any ice off the car.
DW has been emptied & refilled, packups made & breakfast eaten. Fish have been fed & mince is defrosting for cottage pie tonight.
I finished a scarf last night & started another, this one is brown & cream. I also made a batch of choc chip cookies from the takeaway secret book.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

    Good morning everyone!..

It was a wild old night last night, still blowing like mad and absolutely throwing it down here!. Really would like to have a "quilt" day and stay home but not possible today!.

Havent decided on tonights dinner yet, will go and rummage around in the freezer in a minute and will probably find something in there, i'm sure there's some HM soup that will go nicely with some crusty bread.

Anyway, gotta get a wriggle on and try and organise things here!.
    Have a good day y'all!. :D

    Morning all,

No frost here today, and it seems slightly warmer :j.

I am off to work today, so will have a quick swish and swipe before I go, wipe sides and put dw on.

Bins and recycling are out, OH does this, as I am still in my jamas and not a pretty sight :rotfl:

Dinner tonight will be pork chops, mash, cabbage, sprouts and roast squash, all veg and spuds are done and in the fridge, so just the chops to cook later. I would normally out them in the sc, but its too long a day and they will fall to bits.

Parents evening went well last night, and dd is on taget to achieve her results :j

OK better get on, have good days all xx

Cheapskate - I can relate to the life in the way/bogged down feeling!

Been away to my mums for a long weekend. Glad to be home and I'm back at work today.
Found out yesterday that I didn't get the job for and while I felt a bit sorry for my self DH pointed out that I was in a lot better position than some as I still had a job. He's right - always is!

It's so cold here this morning - the wind and rain have been lashing at the windows and its still dark. Need to check the electric (metered) and then make sure everyone is awake/up/ready before I leave.

Only in half a day as I have a liver scan this afternoon.

Dull with a really chilly wind here.

Tonights dinner will be roast chicken, mash and veg and gravy. Will use the LO chicken with mayo for DH sandwiches for tomorrow. He has day off on Friday as we're going away on our own - nice bit of adult time I think!!

Not much left in the cake tins so will need to make some sweet treats over the next couple of days.

DS1 had his school photograph taken yesterday possibly the best school photo ever, will def be ordering some. Mum going for her pre-op today ready for going into hospital next week, depending how she feels she wants me to go to do her hair after I've finished work today, not quite sure when I'm going to get the time from to do everything I need to do this week to be honest - but I'm sure I'll figure something out!

Not much else to say really, keep safe and well everyone, hugs to those that need them.

  • Morning all windy here this morning. Need to get motivated and have a bath, get washing on and get kids sorted for school run. No nursery for youngest today as the new starters are going to look round so looks like jungle jyms for us with friends keep the little ones amused for a couple of hours.
Hugs to all that need them :)
Sometimes i like to imagine that im living on the breadline as a single mum with 3 children to feed and clothe, bills to pay and very little time to myself........ then i wake up and realise im a princess with prince charming by my side and a lovely white castle........ oh wait

    Morning all.
Second day of a nationwide holiday here. İ am not sure what we are up to. i hope we are just going to relax because its the cheapest thing to do! We had a good meal at the MİL's last night and my father in law looks very well after his recent health problems. The last time i saw him was September despite them only living just 5 minutes walk up the road!

The day looks sunny so far but the max temp is set for 21 degrees with cloud later. i ought to go to the gym -as i keep saying--but i can imagine the whole world and his wife will be there!

A good day to you all -G xxx

    Morning my lovelies

OK you lot think of me whilst I play in the woods with the kids this morning in this weather :eek::eek:

Feeling stressed about DS, yet more tantrums this morning about wearing a pair of long johns under his jeans. He won't wear jogging bottoms and jeans will not be warm enough for Forest School. He's kicking off constantly at the moment I and just don't know what to do. Is it his ASD or is he turning into a brat :o:( Feel like a very bad mummy thinking that :(
Anyway enough moaning from me, nowt anyone can do. Will ask as school to see if routine has changed (as in gearing up for Xmas production - he's always worse this time of year) which would account for his behaviour.

Tea tonight will be makeshift as I have tap class. Not been for about 3 weeks

Want to sit and go through my meal planner again. Not cooking a number of items as I don't fancy the meals anymore so will have a nose in cook books for inspiration of new things to try.
Not sure what else will get done but at least I made cheese straws and weetabix brownies yesterday.

JC - sorry about the job xx

cheapskate - I know it's a long shot but have you tried asking on freecycle for a bed? Would that at least help you out until you could save for another one? Sorry about your money worries xx

JackieG - Hope dentist sorts you out today xx

    Sorry gotta dash.
Hugs, spoons and high fives all round. Have a good day OS or not.
