  • We are a family of 4. (kids are now adults.......or rather they eat adult portions.....sometimes wonder about their behaviour). Our normal weekly budget is around £45-£50, but for Christmas week I will be able to pay an extra......£10. It`s pretty much normal meals but with a bit of chocolate here and there!

I normally spend about £50 a week - two adults, one fussy veggie teen, a fussy elderly cat, plus all the booze, cleaning stuff and toiletries. I am planning to spend no more, and perhaps a little less for the Christmas week, and this will include all the booze and an extra person on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

To achieve this, I will be using this Christmas Week Planner as my starting point, changing a few bits around and adding a few others to cater for our individual tastes. Quite looking forward to finding out how low I can go without anyone (including me) feeling the least bit deprived ;)

I don't buy a lot of extras really. I always have stuff like rice, crisps, bread rolls, salad stuff, veg etc in the house so I just up the quantity. Might buy some of those ready made vol au vents, mini quiches etc only cos you usually get 2 or 3 for £5!

Everyone try M&S this year , the luxury range .

Thank me later when your guests are over the moon.

I buy their stuffed turkey crown every year for Christmas Day, costs me £34.99 but it comes out perfect, tastes divine, reduces washing up as the tray just goes in the bin and last for several days and a curry too usually. Nicest tasting turkey ever - bought my first 4 years ago, been buying them for Christmas Day ever since :D

we have some extras like dips, nuts and christmas cake and pudding. Maybe a few choccys. Nice bottle of wine. We have some co-op vouchers to put towards it.

Been buying stuff over the last couple of months. I just add something onto the standard shop each week and then I dont have to spend more christmas week. Got an iced christmas cake, mince pies and a christmas pud amongst other things.
The best bargains are priceless!!!!!!!!!! :T :T :T

We normally spend about £100 (little less now DH has moved out), on xmas week we double it & I'm buying bits as they are on offer already.

    Guess we are just glutons:o

I think your posing as a foodie just got blown :D

John Lewis were handing out samples from their foodhall this week-The Waitrose mince pies are fabulous-Far nicer than the M&S ones BTW (and are currently half price)

    Do you think so?

I think the M&S ones are better. The Waitrose ones are quite boozy.
