I think your posing as a foodie just got blown :D

John Lewis were handing out samples from their foodhall this week-The Waitrose mince pies are fabulous-Far nicer than the M&S ones BTW (and are currently half price)

  • We've decided we're not going overboard this year. Every year we buy loads and it never gets eaten. We always go to my mum's for lunch so no need for a turkey etc but I will get a few nice nibbles for DF, DS and myself.

I'm going to start getting a few bits when payday comes in a few days!

tend to buy christmassy food stuff that can be stored when its on offer in the weeks leadng up to christmas (loving the bog2f going on at the various supermarkets :D) christmas day is me, DH, DS & DD and as we arnt big on turkey i'll just be getting the usual stuff I get for a sunday chicken dinner with leftovers for tea. DS was diagnosed as coeliac in january (spent last christmas day at the hospital) so that will push up the cost of pickable foods a little bit so i'm budgeting £80 - £100 for the christmas week shop along with the few bits i've already collected!

  • I don't stick to a budget i would guess around £250/£300
    It's Britney !!!!!!:T
  • There are five of us, me, oh, 5 year old, 4 year old and 1 year old. Our average weekly shopping is £90 nso i am estimating an extra £60 on top of this, this won't include any alcohol. Only alchol that will be bought for christmas is a bottle of southern comfort for OH and a crate of lagers.

I have been picking christmas goodies up the paste few weeks and making use of the offers.. i will be stocking up on the tesco offer of pop like i did with mince pies and pringles. We have alot of family round at christmas too.
  • I dont really have a budget, I have saved £130 on the tesco £1 stamps so will use them and make the rest up with cash. I cant drink this year(see sig) so hubby only needs a wee bottle of vodka and we already have beers in when Asda was doing an offer. I order my turkey, stuffing, gammon and cocktail sausages from my local butchers which is usually about £35. Im hoping I can keep my actual spend in tescos down to £100 or below but if its more its more. No cheese board this year either :'(

  • gosh I must be a food budget skin flint!!! We will spend our usual £50 food budget + so far I have squirraled away nearly £40 but there may be an extra £10 on top of that by xmas. I also have about £5 in asda cc vouchers & £7.50 nectar points & that will do the 4 of us for food, treats & alcohol. I find the excessive food buying (which I have done in the past) at xmas a bit obscene! We will have turkey on xams day & leftover turkey in some guise boxing day, 1 box of chocolates & a yummy desert & the rest of the time its just a normal food week. I've been planning to not spend any extra money at xmas other than what I've squirraled away, so the plan is come Jan we will be sooooooooo much better off financially than we ever are usually. Extra cash will go towards our boxing day tradition of going to the cinema & then onto a pub for a few drinks & board games :D

    Yes , thats right.

Last year my friends Rog and Jane popped over on the 23rd , they were amazed at the way the lamb that we gave them simply melted in the mouth , they still talk about it till this day.

Just try it , you will never go back ;)

We shop at M&S when we cant be bothered cooking but I cant say I find it nicer than good home cooking with fresh meat from a good butcher.
