I suspect that the poster is, as human nature tends to dictate, stating an unproven "fact". In Australia however they do have really bad accidents when Bushmen spiders suddenly drop on to drivers from car sun blinds where they hide - must be true, it was on BBC TV.
I guess anything you throw from your car has the capacity to cause a fatality to the driver behind and not just bikers. but it must be pretty rare that it does, I've never heard of it happening. Still hopefully you won't do it any more.

Heard of a fag going into a convertable and doing pretty bad damage, apparently it was in november though so serves them right for being a posing to$$er

A friend of ours was really upset when a mcnugget did this & the fag end hit his baby son in the face. He had to pull over on a dangerous road to pull the burning fag end off his son & luckily it didnt burn his sons face.

I think he was lying. As someone who smokes 20 a day, if that cherry goes anywhere near you, you burn! And if he had to 'pull' it off it wouldve definatley left a mark.

The story I saw was of a woman whose driver-side window was open. The lit cigarette flew through the open window beyond her sightline and landed on the back seat where it caught fire - she panicked and pulled over. She was quoted as saying how glad she was that she didn't have any kids in the back.

In the early 90's when wide jeans with huge turn up's were fashionable, someone threw a fag end and it landed in my turn up and I didn't realise until I noticed my jeans were smouldering :mad:

I was only a teenager and had worked hours on an Avon round to earn enough to buy the jeans, so I was properly gutted.

Not if they'd been sat behind for a couple of minutes witnessing regular puffs of smoke and ash being flicked out the window. Whenever I see this it pretty much inevitable that a cigarette end is going to come flying out of the window sooner or later.:(

It's a flipping daft habit anyway - my mum managed to set her car door on fire in the middle of rush hour traffic when she did this and the cigarette butt blew back into the car, landed in the door pocket and ignited some of the usual junk people have in there.

I once saw a passenger flick a ciggy out of her window onto an on coming convertible car. The convertible then crashed into a mothercare shop as she was trying to avoid the mother and buggy on the pavement. The poor driver then stumbled out of her car and into an oncoming truck. The shop began to smoulder before exploding. This explosion took out the adjacent shops, one of which was a fireworks shop which subsequently exploded causing an emergency response from the Cobra. That evening the president of the UN declared a state of emergency.

Ban passengers who smoke.
