Got to admit that it's this sort of hassle made me choose the Barclays account a little while back when I wanted an extra one.

Co-op is great, and arguably this is the fault of the retailers as well as Co-op, but I just wanted a card that I was sure would work everywhere.

Which barclay's account is this? I think it may be time for a change...these issues with the co-op visa debit card have been going on since day 1!

Just the basic Barclays Cash Card account.

You can choose the full Visa Debit card when you open it. I've not had any problems with the card so far, and unless I've missed it I don't think others have?

:rotfl:That made me laugh - I feel your pain, add o2 money to your letter writing list. Try to topup an o2 money card with a co-op card and it says its not a valid Visa Debit!

Oh and both Tranpennine Express AND Northern Rail have still to update their systems - its a poor show for businesses of these sizes to have not bothered updating the PAN ranges in their software.

I have used my Co_op Visa Electron a few times topping up my o2 money card with success. It takes so much time though logging in to o2 and then all the card details/your address/verified by Visa etc. Also it has to be £100 or less!

Has Natwest withdrawn from o2 money??

We can't go to Barclays as I hate them with a passion due to the problems we have had with barclaycard refusing to remove our no from some other persons account and of course Barclays Partner Finance who are still being a pita!

What I need to do is be more proactive with my cashplus card and put money on that and use it when this kind of thing arises. Thus neatly solving the problem!
  • hello, we've just opened a co op basic account, i'm a bit dissapionted to hear the card isn't great for paying online etc. will it work in shops like Asda? is there a list of where it will work? can you tell me what a cashcard plus is? how does it work? thanks

Favdaughter - don't worry too much,, it works fine in most places, and you can now use it order groceries online with Tesco's.

As far as I am aware the only problems are pay at pumps, Debenhams and M&S online, and it would appear some stations still. I have used my card in loads of places with no bother at all apart from this latest one with Debenhams which has annoyed me greatly!!

I have a coop visa card and haven't had any problems using it. I get petrol from Morrisons and also shop there. M&S Debenhams but not on line. Next, Boots, TK Max, Aldi, Spar, all the local shops and even the odd carvery at the local pub(not very often, just a treat) Oh and Asda as well in fact nearly everywhere I've tried so far. The only problem I've found is with Internet banking. It can take 3 to 4 days to update which means I've got to keep All receipts and watch every penny in case I go overdrawn and with the 3 strike rule it's a bit of a pest.

Hi, No Nat West havent withdrawn, but I tried again todau to topup my o2 money using my co-op visa and got a message that this card is not accepted and to use a Visa Debit or Maestro.

Have also tried getting my OH to top it up from their Co-Op Visa but get exactly the same message.

Is your co-op card in the 4508 75XX Number Range like mine?

are you clicking on electron in the pull down box??

I have managed to put £5 on my o2 money via coop electron (electron pull down box/card details/address) and then takes you to verified by Visa.
