Debenhams doesn't accept co-op visa debit online?!!

Options
I didn't realise that Debenhams was one of the stores to have not updated their systems as well

I went to order a couple of bits in their sale at bargain prices and it said I have an invalid card no

I would phone and give them a piece of my mind but younger son is sitting here and one of the things I want to get is for him!

Mad as a wet hen I am, I think I may send them the same letter as I did to Transpenine!

So to recap - Debenhams don't accept our card, M&S still?? anyone else who should be getting a letter?!!

Got to admit that it's this sort of hassle made me choose the Barclays account a little while back when I wanted an extra one.

Co-op is great, and arguably this is the fault of the retailers as well as Co-op, but I just wanted a card that I was sure would work everywhere.

hmm i bought something in Tesco with my card, no problem. however, when i went back for a refund, the card did not work to have the amount refunded onto it!!!! the lady said oh, i can put it on another card, my face must have looked horrified, i haven't got another card  she must have felt sorry for me as she gave me a cash refund.

it's too hit and miss for my liking. apart from that it's great:rotfl:

:rotfl:That made me laugh - I feel your pain, add o2 money to your letter writing list. Try to topup an o2 money card with a co-op card and it says its not a valid Visa Debit!

Oh and both Tranpennine Express AND Northern Rail have still to update their systems - its a poor show for businesses of these sizes to have not bothered updating the PAN ranges in their software.

Thanks Ian - have Transpennine Express really not updated their systems??

Have you tried buying a ticket at a station and been declined then? I would be interested to know and may even go to the nearest station just to try it out if that's the case and then write to the md again enclosing a copy of his letter to me which assured me it would be sorted out this was back in Feb!!

    Hi

Honestly, as of last week they hadnt (and my card and co-op account has only ever been Visa Debit not an Electron upgrade.

I live directly across the Rd from Oxford Rd Station in Manchester which is a Northern Rail Operated station and they even have a sign in the ticket office window about it.

Cheadle Hulme (tried a fortnight ago), another Northern Rail Station just said, "oh Co-op, its something wrong with their cards" but did at least swipe and let me sign.

Manchester Airport a Transpennine Express Operated Station still havent updated but if you join the queue some staff will let you sign others just plead ignorance and insist on another payment method.

The https://www.o2.co.uk/money topup is completely inexcusable as the card is issued and operated by Nat West so you would expect them to be able to update their systems as one of the biggest card processors in the UK!

Happy to also fire off more letters or attend a peaceful Co-Op Cardholder mass purchase event at a station to prove the point to their management :D

    All the best

Interesting! I am planning a trip in the next couple of weeks to do some xmas shopping so will make sure I have cash for the ticket just in case.

I will also take a copy of the letter I got from the MD and show them that if it doesn't work! I will also write to him again if necessary, along with any others that annoy me!! :D

I'm glad its not just me that fires off emails and letters - I feel like I'm turning into Victor Meldrew!

Good luck on your trip - if you want to PM me the details for the MD i'll happily also follow up with a letter or email.
