  • I think overspending on food is a common shame (no wonder the western world is getting fatter by the day eh?). My wastage was horrendous as well but I have managed to reign this in a fair bit. Still my goal (one of 'em anyway) is to pull this back even further.

Haven't done that well this month due due to my exhaustion from renovating every spare minute I have.

see that's what this weather does for you. Let's have a bbq turns into a £30 spend in the supermarket on "let's just get a couple of burgers"

Yep that did put a smile on my face :D

I don't know if it makes me feel better that we all have the same faults. Then again, the only thing that it is harming is this journey of ours, so to stop it we need to be really motivated.

When I first stopped working we did a bit, but now more money is available it has crept back in again. :o

I'm saying nothing... :o:whistle: Reducing the spending would definitely help the old waistline as well as my purse though!!

Snap. But now that I've admitted it, I'm going to do something about it. After the BBQ that is... ;)

Oh and yukki, it was £24 spent on BBQ 'stuff' (too embarrassed to tell you exactly what was bought) ~ not good when you think that's just for one night!! See, that's where our 'surplus' money goes ~ on carp!!

Oh ours would be the same, chicken, wine, beer, coleslaw blah blah. Reigning back on food and drink will help my waist line as well. I was at work today in my once too big trousers that are now too tight and I was very uncomfortable all morning. Still ate crisps and a baguette for lunch though.

What a gorgeous weekend we're having. I went food shopping on Friday and only spent £56 and that included 2 bottles of wine and a bottle of beer as I had a friend coming over. I have to buy lunch box bits but hopefully that wont cost too much.

Yesterday we spent the day at the beach. For the 1st October you wouldn't have believed it would you! It was lovely and didn't spend a penny all day. I really wanted a chinese last night but I think the circuit board in my head is working correctly at the moment as I decided that the £25 we would have spent could pay at least £35 off the mortgage at the same value, and I would only be hungry soon after.

I had a good day yesterday selling my wares on my website and sold a tenner's worth of cards which was great.

    So October Update

Interest per day: Oct £8.18 ( 5p reduction per day since Sept)

    Interest per month: Oct £253.59

    Mortgage balance: Oct £78,562.10

Months left to pay - 237

I'm pleased with the reduction and my first target this month is £62.10 which I think with a bit of juggling I am almost at but will wait until after Weds when the actual DD goes out for the mortgage.

It's free Ebay listing this weekend so I'm going to put a few bits and pieces on tonight to attempt to clear the clutter a bit and raise some funds.

I'm also going to start getting some bits for xmas this month and I have my eye on some boots I want from Amazon which I am determined to pay for with Amazon vouchers earnt. I have £7.50 which I just converted from nectar and the boots are £43 so with a bit of cleverness I should be able to manage it.

Have been working on the spreadsheet today & am ashamed to say that the dodgy year column did indeed just need making bigger :o I bow to your's & FF's superior knowledge of spreadsheets & hang my head in shame!! :rotfl:

After seeing your post above, I've had a little play around with the mortgage rate column & at my current rate (5.89%) I pay roughly £290+ monthly interest & £9+ daily. When I change to SVR (currently 3.5%) it goes down to roughly £170+ monthly & £5+ daily :j Woohoo, really happy with that!! :j

Just wanted to say thanks again for the spreadsheet ~ I think I'm going to love it (actually I think I already do!!) :D:D:D

Oh, & well done on the website sale, hopefully that's going to really take off for you, I'll have to have a nosy (seem to remember you posted a link earlier in the thread??) . Anyway, hope you've had a good weekend :)
