Hmm, sounds like you're in turmoil :( I can completely empathise with the work situation, I think I said before that I still remember the sense of relief when [STRIKE]I talked my DH round[/STRIKE] the decision was made that I could leave work & be a SAHM. It had got to the point where leaving work was all I could think about &, I hope you don't mind me saying, but you sound in a similar frame of mind :(

Could you pay the £225 overpayment every other month instead of every month?? Maybe alternate so save one month, overpay the next?? Or just postpone any overpayments & concentrate on building up a safety net of savings & see how things go from there??

Yes PP we could, and to be honest that's probably how it will happen. Hubby is really encouraging me to quit before I find anything else. Looking at other people's SOA's today even we will have the same if not slightly more surplus than them and they cope, so it really does make me realise that there are people far worse off than us. We're not in debt, we have some savings and the mortgage is manageable.

I always thought I embraced change but I guess I'm a little scared of it. Tomorrow is another day and we'll see what happens at work.

I hope I'm not coming across too moany and selfish etc. I'll try to be more positive in the diary and remember the good things in life from the next post on :D

Oh heck, I hope you didn't think I was suggesting you were a moaning minnie!! I just remember how all-consuming it was for me when I wanted to leave work, it was all I could think of!! I was just meaning you sounded 'torn', you certainly didn't come across as moany or selfish :o

I think it can help to write down your thoughts & dilemmas in a diary, you can get feedback & hear about other peep's experiences. It's great that you have hubby's full support as well, that's important :)

No don't worry I didn't think you thought that, I'm just aware that it does consume me and I don't want to drag my diary down and scare away any readers lol.

New day today, back to work, but I am going in with the attitude of not needing to be there and see how I get on.
  • It is the opposite of selfish, as if you were being selfish you would not wait and just do it without thought of consequence. It does take you time to let yourself have the permission to do it doesn't it.

I refuse to be negative any more (this week).:rotfl:

Last night hubby and I decided to join Z0pa. We're viewing it as a long term investment, so have just put in a little to test the water and see what happens.

It's free listing again this weekend on Ebay so I'll find some more bits to put on in between working all weekend.

I've also started a personal blog to just get the thoughts out of my head and onto paper so to speak. It's a bit of a fun element as I can use my phone etc to blog and it may help to look back and see things really aren't as bad as I thought at the time.

Oh also put £20 into the ISA

Sounds like a good plan. We have a lot to be glad about don't we, it is just hard to see sometimes as we are too close to it or too busy.

I am with Zopa. I have been for a couple of years. I haven't got a lot in there, but it is slowly building up and about £450 now. I am trying to be a bit more disciplined about putting more in instead of just ISA filling and mortgage overpaying as it is a better investment, and although not really that risky, riskier for me. :o I would love to have the max in there, but at the rate I'm going it would take till I was retirement age. It is definitely a long term thing for me, I was thinking if I could fill it, then get an income from it. Interest coming back in on £25k would be ok. Have you done one each? Or just one of you?

Just one for me Michelle as I am SE as well so it's easier to declare the earnings. We'll never reach the max I don't think, but it's a good source of future income if it works.

£10 from CI PF this month which was nice to see. Also managed some relists on ebay as it's free listing.

It's been a while since I updated. No more overpayments have been made this month, but I have been working to set up money coming in for the future.

The 1st december sees the start of my ten year target to rid us of the mortgage. We will officially have 20 years left so to halve it would be great. I also need to make an OP of £50.42 to start the ten year stretch on exactly £78,000 owing to the mortgage. I think this will be the start of a new diary for me on this date.

I have been concentrating on saving as well as OP this last month, we have had lots going wrong or potentially going wrong and we don't want to be left with no reserves, so while the bathroom fund is building up slowly, so is the reserves pot very slowly.

I really need to concentrate on buying xmas pressies very soon. I have a couple, and keep checking the grabbit board for bargains. There is some money set aside for this which is good.
