That only shows that your new TV is not as good at displaying SD material as your old one.

tbh irrespective of whether you have a LCD or plasma TV, you will see a huge improvement in picture quality watching Sky HD (or any other HD source) if you have the equiment hooked up using a HDMI cable. You have to use HDMI to carry the HD signal, if you are using scart you will get the regular SD signal the same as any ordinary SKY+ box.

Well nobody is going to get a HD signal via a Scart Lead, are they.:rotfl:

I have mine connected via a HDMI Cable, but there really is very little difference in picture quality between HD and SD.

Many people will see a huge difference between SD and HD, but then not everyone takes the time to set up their TV properly.

My sister is a perfect example.

Great big HD tv that to my eyes is unwatchable as she has over saturated the colours and everything is sat up - truly horrible.

Like I said it depends how close yo are to TV I have a 37 inch tv and sit about 12 ft away and can see hardly any difference between HD and SD if I move closer I can.

Your sky box is up scaling your SD in an attempt to mimic HD so is a little of an unfair comparison.
Sky HD box compared to an SD box or any other SD source is simply an improved picture, surely there cant still be this debate ?!?
I think its a massive difference and whilst the difference is not open to debate, its simply a matter of whether this is important to you that is open to question.

Surely if you are watching on a HD TV your TV is up scaling the SD picture anyway.

Well yes they obviously need to fill the blanks so I hear what you are saying but they are not very good at doing so and do so simply to fill the screen rather than to increase the viewing performance, upscaling DVD, stb etc are always better at upscaling, unless you are comparing a very expensive (and modern) TV versus a very poor dvd, stb.

Trust me, my TV and Satellite Receiver are set up perfectly.
