Can you see a difference between hd and standard viewing, because when i saw my b.i.l's a few months ago i couldn't see any difference
I'm asking because we've received a letter from sky today offering us a free hd box with free self set up and a whopping 50 days free hd pack, i'm tempted but not if its not improved much

Its OK TBH. I certainly watch ITV HD, 4HD and SKy1HD instead of their LD variants BUT.....
I actually hugely prefer my new Virgin box. Still HD but has hundreds of catch up options for missed programmes and series from months ago!Marry a Foreigner, its so much cheaper!0 -
Yes you can tell the difference between HD & SD,the sound is certainly much better even if you watch HD thru an SD TV like you may have in the bedroom. In fact,to my dodgy eye's,a HD picture looks even better on an SD tv than an SD picture does...0

Sound notwithstanding, I can certainly see a difference.
If you have a proper HD tele you should be able to as well.0 -
What TV are you going to be viewing your HD on? That would seem to be the most relevant factor. No free lunch, and no free laptop0

When we changed our sky plus to sky plus HD we could see a difference, even on the channels that weren't HD.If you have sky movies and sports i think you get the most marked difference but as there are 50 HD channels now i think it is welll worth it even if you don't,as there are lots of films and footie matches on other channels.
Mind you,we got that wonderful offer last spring of HD free for a year so there was no way we were going to turn THAT down0 -
It depends how close you sit to TV and what size it is.

Sky broadcast HD in 1080i, this means you see every other line of every other frame. It is an old trick from the days of home computing that fools the eye into 'seeing' what it believes to be a superior picture.
TBH, a picture in 720p is technically a better picture than a 1080i one. Hopefully one of the terrestrial broadcasters will be the first to do 1080p HD and steal Sky's thunder.Never Knowingly Understood.

We had HD for 12 month, even in the first month I couldnt see a significant difference, we were stuck in the contract for a year though,
got rid of it as soon as i could, complete waste of £120.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -

Always worth checking first to see if you can see an improvement before wasting money on something that is not suitable for you.
I think is great but obviously it is not for everyone.0
