With the mumbles method of gaining holiday you gain holiday as you work. For the sake of simplicity lets say you get a days holiday for every month worked.

Bob takes his holidays like a nutter every 11 months meaning a longer wait between holidays. Only his holiday lasts for 11days. An entire day longer than mumbles.


Basically yes mumbles would get his holidays more frequently, but the other employee who takes their holiday every 11 months would get a longer holiday from working a longer time.

Result: both mumbles and his co workers have worked the same number of days, had the same amount of holiday and been paid exactly the same amount of money.

It was always my aim to get my month holiday without having to wait 11 months until the next holiday. Getting holidays more frequently than the next guy always feels like a benefit to me. Its like your birthday coming earlier every year. As long as it comes around slightly earlier nobody notices

Thats fair enough, just so you realise that your not actually getting more holiday than anyone else, or paid more.

Hooray! I thought this thread was finished - I'm irrationally delighted that it's still going.

I'm already having my birthday a day earlier each year. By 2192 my 224th and 225th birthdays will be on consecutive days.

Mumbles, talking of birthdays how do you think the Queen should apply "the strategy" as she has two a year?

That's not what he said he did, he said he took his holidays a month earlier each year. Year 1 dec, year 2 nov, year 3 oct etc.

He also said he was not allowed to take holidays until he had accrued them. So with his system he simply would not have been allowed to take a months holiday earlier than Dec, because he would not have accrued enough days.

He said he got 2.5 days for every month worked, so each time he took his months holiday a month earlier he would have 2.5 days less to take.
