When have you to decide by Wally? I'll be interested to see if you exchange or not.

I'm defo glad I stuck with the Madrid but I'd hate you to keep it on my say so and then 8 weeks down the line you just didn't like it. If you think about it though it's good we can talk about it like this. We're talking about trying it out and after two weeks still thinking ok maybe I'm still not sure but bought from Dreams or places like that from day 1 you've got it and that's it.

I will post back when I have made the final decision. So far, I have slept in it for 2 weeks and it is still too hard. Tim says I can sleep in it for another two weeks (I live far away, so he doesn't get here often) until the next delivery run, then if it is still too hard, he will change it. Hopefully that will be long enough!

As you say, it is good to be able to talk with other people who have been through the same thing.

I stand corrected however the first thing I spotted before you brought it up was the special discount thing. I assume everyone tries to talk a better price from a bed salesman and would this then invalidate the return.

    Maybe just me being cynical.

I think you're right to be cynical and if it was me I'd want to get something in writing on the invoice or receipt to confirm my purchase was covered.

There was a post on here from someone who got a free protector with their Dreams mattress and then later found that this qualified as a 'special discount' and invalidated the satisfaction guarantee.

But the same thing applies to any guarantee; check the terms carefully and if in any doubt get confirmation in writing that your purchase is covered.

    RDEL,

You are hilarious. You spend all your time here talking about mattresses despite the fact you already have one you are happy with then tell me I need to get a life;)

You are overly personal, offensive and insulting and I do not trust you end of story.

Note the post below by WB who on the other hand shows understanding and compassion for a fellow consumer. He is able to express his view without trying to rubbish my view. You could learn a thing or two from him/her...

...However, I can also understand someone who is in pain not wanting to continue sleeping on it. At least now anyone trawling through these forums (as we have all done) will know what to expect, which might make things easier. If I thought there was no chance at all of my Madrid improving, I would probably feel the same as Allstar. But since I have read reviews like Rdel's and the article quoted above, I can continue to hope!

  • Don't forget you can always add people to your ignore list by clicking on their name and "public profile" then "user lists"

No need for anyone on these forums to feel they have to put up with things they don't want to (works all ways of course)

But Tim is not impartial, he always always recommends a double sided mattress. That has memory foam or latex on both sides. Yes in the idea world this is THE BEST combination. However many people enjoy the benefits of a one sided mattress. If you google such a thing you nearly always end up on a certain site.

This is never taken into account, if someone suggests mattress A or mattress B Tim always says mattress C.

Despite the double sided mattress being the best, out of the 1,000's and 1,000's of mattress being made and sold very few are like this. You have to ask yourself why.

I think with Tim it is a case of viewing the glass as half empty or half full. Prior to my experience I gave him the benefit of the doubt but since my experience I believe he is promoting (yes - obviously I am biased now!) due to being involved in the design of a product with pretty unique specifications and then providing advice to direct people to that product.

When I called La Romantica it seems that there are no shops in the the south east of England that stock the mattress. You would think they think that people in the south east have no money! Also they could only provide two online suppliers of the mattress - is this not strange for supposedly the best value product of its type on the market? Why is it not more widely available if it is that good?

Maybe pinky can answer that one?

Allstar you still don't get it. The problem I have with you isn't that you are stalking Tim or continually going on and on about something that I think you pretty much brought about yourself. The problem I have is with you rubbishing me. If you look back you'll see when you first started this I didn't comment at all. After the thread was up and running for weeks and lots of Tim bashing I added my own experience with Tim's company becasue it was very different from yours. The only times I have spoken to you directly have been after you have brought my name up in a post either accusing me of something or sticking the proverbial flashlight in my face to interrogate me.
It is also interesting that whilst most people only write reviews to complain a poster called RDEL goes out of his way to defend a certain company in a VERY passionate way yet makes very few posts on any other topic!
I will admit I was probably too quick to judge Sunshinetours and I have no reason at all to believe WB is not genuine but I am still suspicious of RDEL. I am amazed that he hasn't mentioned the smell of the mattress in any of his previous posts - not even in the ultra detailed review below - no mention of smell. I am also surprised that this info re: exchange was not mentioned when I first asked him what Tim had done to exceed customer expectation as judging by the timing of his posts he should have had the replacement mattress by then.

You may be right that my replies to both of your posts above have been personal, offensive and insulting, the only reason for which is because I have been offended and insulted by your accusations and what I feel are snide remarks above. Let's be fair, neither of us are gonna lose any sleep over it but, as far as I'm concerned, I'm only answering like for like.

I don't care if you trust me Allstar but I have an opinion just as valid as yours. I don't bring your name up randomly in posts and snipe about you with other forum users but don't be surprised, when you bring up my name like you did above, if I respond in defence.

Having said all that I'm quite happy to stop the mud slinging chief. All you have to do is stop bringing up my name or rubbishing everything I say. If you disagree with it fair enough say so but quit the snide stuff and I'm happy to do the same.
I was put on this earth to accomplish a certain amount of things, at this rate I may never die!
  • RDEL,

Let's agree to disagree. You have your opinion of me and I have mine of you.

P.S. Tim has accused me of being of being the competition and another user. I ignored him because I know it's not true. Sometimes that's the easiest thing to do and let people make up their own minds.
  • I am glad that WB posted because it goes to show that mattresses are very subjective which is why it is good to try before you buy. Pocket sprung mattresses are meant to be 'medium firm' at worst yet WB finds the mattress too firm so far. That doesn't mean they are a difficult or awkward customer - it's just their preference. The mattress I tried was supposed to be firm but I found it too soft. That's how it is with products that are completely open to personal tastes - entirely subjective.

Still hoping the Madrid will soften up - I will come back and let you know what happens. Two weeks and counting....
