Mattress Return Distance Selling Regulations

  • Tim,

Please could you explain what the difference is between DSRs and your satisfaction guarantee? It seems that your guarantee is much more generous than DSRs so why should a customer have to pay postage when using DSRs as opposed to your guarantee? It doesn't make sense. You would allow someone to sleep on a mattress for up to 14 nights then return it and you would pay costs but not allow them to return it without sleeping on it unless they pay return postage?
  • By way of update. We finally got our mattress - a Warren Evans Sienna kingsize. at £520 pocket sprung only it was not cheap but the equivalent from one of the brands recommended on here would have been not far short of £500 anyway.

After my experiences with the La Romantica Violet this mattress was altogether different - Firm and supportive and even though it is pocket sprung - much firmer feeling that the La Romantica model even though that one had firm springs. It makes me seriously question the quality of the La Romantica brand.

So far so good - the Warren Evans mattress seems to be a really high quality product so eventually Happy New Mattress:beer:

Did you try it in the shop before buying then?

I've looked at Warren Evans before and they seem to offer a reasonable value product, especially in their sale and also can make bed frames to indivdual sizes which can be useful

Interestingly the mattress info on their site seems to suggest much the same as Tim's advice on here

You got your refund you now have a new mattress.

I wonder when this thread is going to be allowed to die or is the playground rhetoric going to continue ?

Yes I tried first - it's the only sensible way although the online mattress retailers among us will disagree.

    P.S.

I didn't see where Warren Evans recommended buying a mattress blind;-)

    Hi Optimist,

Genuine thanks for your help on this thread and so with all due respect I will say that yes I am ok but at this very moment some other unsuspecting consumer may be about to part with their money only to get an unsuitable mattress having been convinced that buying blind is sensible with something you spend a third of your life on!

I think this thread may well stay alive until the moderators close it or until retailers stop pedalling their wares on a consumer oriented site.

P.S. Having said that maybe it is best to set up a new thread dedicated to buying mattresses as I appreciate that some of you guys monitor this forum looking to help other and this isn't helpful to you.

Problem is that your incessant digs do your supposed technical arguments as to whether Tim's business is complying with DSR's no favours.

My final point I made was not having a pop, but that as you supposedly asked for a fiirmer mattress I believe - well, read what the Coil Sprung (open coil) description says on their site
    http://www.warrenevans.com/mattresses/

These type of threads usually end up becoming rather personal on all sides and any decent information usually lost
